Not entirely, violent crime rates were already going down into the 2000s and smartphones were only adopted in the 2010s so clearly something else was at work. I think it’s part of it though.

It's as easy as people make it. Right now there's one side of the political divide that refuses to even entertain the idea of policy, and instead offers empty platitudes or irrelevant finger pointing.

And yeah, it's not going to be "easy", but it's better than doing nothing, which is the alternative offer.

The 2A isn't just an amendment. It was so important it was in our Bill of Rights. It addressed the main concerns that would alleviate tyranny. The 1A and 2A being first and second as they were deemed the most important.

Overall substance abuse has gone down.

That's not to say there aren't other issues with the danger of fent but I suspect what we're seeing is an increasingly small proportion of users who consume the vast majority of drugs and experience a new, elevated risk of OD because of fent. So more young people in the past had substance abuse issues but users faced a far lower risk of drug overdose.

I'm pretty sure its that violent crime has actually decreased decreased from its peak in the 90s.

I disagree. A small percentage increase of a minority of kids doing drugs is far less destructive than what phones is doing to ALL kids.

That's definitely some of it. It's also imo absolutely that some % of society has lost a degree of empathy due to the detached nature of communication. Look at this board (and this is tame in comparison to a lot of social media/forum/electronic communication). People feel free to type whatever they want and escalation is all but guaranteed. And that mindset doesn't just go away when they encounter disagreement on the real world.

They had no resource officer at this school. There should be federal money for that for every school including tax breaks for that in private schools.

Also school shootings are a very small number in over all gun violence.
