To get the public approval to go to war with Iraq and Afghanistan because they had WMDs. Which really meant they arrived in Araq and immediately took over all the oil fields a pumped billions of barrels of oil out of the country. "Without anyone knowing?" You clearly haven't watched any documentaries on the subject. Over 30 previous tennents reported that weeks prior to 9/11 all the bomb sniffer dogs were removed from the buildings, they had power outages, elevator renovation which involved hundreds of meters of cable and full floor evacuations whilst they did the "refurbishment work", plus floors that were known to be empty (elevators didn't even stop on those floors) with heavy objects moving around days prior. I recommend you watch the documentary where thousands of top level scientists and structural engineers including demolition specialists have all come forward saying free fall of those three buildings was impossible and they demonstrate why.
