Media Rose’s grandfather died

Yo dumbass. You not showing up for work during your scheduled time isn't them terminating you: it's you quitting. They are just refusing to rehire you. You go to unemployment and say you didn't go to work because you missed it to go to a funeral and you won't be getting any unemployment coverage because you quit you weren't fired.

Holy fuck if you can't understand that this whole topic is over your head.
Do you think I'm talking about not informing the employer that the employee is going to attend a funeral? Is the analogy you created for this scenario involving the employee not informing their work, is that the analogy you really want to use? Instead of getting angry, consider re-calibrating your argument. It will serve you better. And believe me, this isn't going over my head.

People are so precious over Rose we're actually seeing them claim right here that the organization that employs her, and Champion herself (Queen Zhang the First) should bend over backwards to accommodate the challenger.

It's crazy the lengths ppl will go to to justify this when it's Rose. Is there any other fighter in the UFC who gets this level of coddling from the fans?
<{hughesimpress}>
I think the argument at hand is people are indirectly calling her a duck for not fighting during a grieving period. Not sure defending against that accusation should be deemed coddling, I'd consider it a reasonable thing to defend no matter who the fighter is. It's surprising to me people can't see that.

Everyone assumed it was a money situation but this is probably why she didn’t take the title shot

Then why is Pat Barry bitching to Ariel Helwani in this thread? https://forums.sherdog.com/threads/pat-barry-“we-absolutely-want-the-title-fight”-dana-lying-again.4152280/
There's no way Carla Esparza was a priority over Rose or Joanna. I'd say Angela Hill deserves it more than Esparza.

Edit: Pat Barry is beyond annoying

But it's apparent that she's been declining to sign for the fight for months. So I'm not sure what grieving has to do with that.

but anyway,

Cool photos of her Grandad.

Agreed, very cool photos.

If this was any other fighter yall would be up in arms about the lack of warrior spirit. Sherdogs collective boner for "thug" rose never ceases to amaze
People constantly jump down Roses throat for being "mentally weak." Dunno where you've been

Definitely makes Dana look like more of a dick saying "she doesn't want the title fight".

RIP
at this point, I'm pretty surprised someone hasn't gone postal on dana

Not sure how you don’t see how those are related. Maybe it wouldn’t take you months to grieve, it would take me very long. But I’m capable of understanding how that time varies between people. It’s surprising you’re not able to see that.

Because it appears that he only just died. Do you know otherwise?

I'd assume so as the person I was arguing was using the concept of attending the funeral as part of the narrative.

It's not an argument. It's a true story from November 2017. My grandmother died and I had put through HR to for personal time (I used my PTO during the summer) off. It was denied because we were already short handed. We already had people on vacation. I was asking for 4 days off. They basically said sorry but the job can't take the hit.

Then you got to make a big boy decision. Quit and attend the funeral or keep your job and not go to the funeral. And if I sent and tried to file for unemployment I would've lost. Slam dunk case of quitting actually. I should also point out I live in Chicago and the funeral was in Florida so it wasn't like I needed a few hours off.

This here, I'm not gonna lie losing someone like your grandfather sucks on the flip side it's not normal to take off months of time from work for something like this either, a lot of companies in this day and age usually give you 5 days for the death of a close family member.
This is the fucking UFC. Not a normal company where your fatass get's to chill and eat cheetos in front of a computer all day long.

Sorry to hear that.

That being said, that is not the reality of most jobs. And under those circumstances, you could have forced their hand to terminate you and followed up with a wrongful termination lawsuit. Odds are they would have settled, I'd guess a year's severance wouldn't have been out of the question. Knowing your rights or at least consulting someone who does would have changed the the options you had to weigh in that situation. Once you pulled the trigger, the company would have to determine if this was something they'd want to go to court over, and if they are worth their salt, they would say it isn't. If they are dumb, then you file and odds are they would settle.
