Media Rose’s grandfather died

No, that would be a half truth. The full truth is that she wants to fight at a different time, not a different opponent.
Once again wanting the fight at another time has no standing.

She didn't want the fight at the time it was offered. Wanting it later doesn't matter. She didn't want the fight when it was offered. That's the whole true. Everything else is just extra.

It is. Make perfect sense.

They offered her a fight on a certain day. They didn't ask for another time. Either you want to fight when they have it available or you don't. It's not rocket science. She didn't want the fight. It didn't matter if she wants it a month or two later.

Damage control for a piss poor post.

She clearly wants the fight. You also know none of the details.

I don't think she confirmed if it was Covid or not, but seems very likely. A lot of old people are dying from it here in Lithuania.

Covid is on insane levels here right now. I think we might be top in the world per capita cases per day (3k on average). For US population that would be 366k a day.

Why? If someone in your family just died and the UFC asked if you want to fight shortly after would that be something you would or wouldn't rather due if you could just fight like a month or so later?

Stating that Rose doesn't want the fight implies she doesn't want to fight the champion, not that the problem is that she doesn't want to fight soon after a close relative died.

It's the usual unprofessional bullshit from the UFC trying to pressure someone into a fight they would rather take a little later due to legitimate life stuff that is important.

Details aren't needed.

Imagine if I was taking my car to you for an oil change. You're like I can't do it today I can do it Tuesday. I'm like I can't wait that long in driving my car to Vegas tomorrow I need it done today. You say you're closing up and can't do it.

The bottom line is you don't want to give my car an oil change. It doesn't matter if you can do it Tuesday. You don't want to do it now.

It's hilarious how selective folks are around here when it comes to believing what Dana White says.

What the fuck is this? Fighter's jobs aren't comparable to 9-5 jobs they don't get payed the same way at all and if you are equating fighting to an oil change they don't do it nearly as often. Also most decent employers give people PTO for when you are sick or have a family emergency. Your analogy is terrible.

For someone trying to present their original post as logical, you sure are making a lot of assumptions.

Dana never said that they offered Namajunas a fight; and he's actually making statements based off hearsay.

You also don't know the difference between "can't" and "want".

Jake Shields and Khabib both fought shortly after their fathers died without hesitation, and I have more respect for them for being able to put their grief aside and carry on with their obligations.
Those are men. I may be old fashioned but I think women are a bit different.

It's not really a half truth.

UFC: here's the fight: Weili 1st Q 2021, u down?
Rose: no
UFC: OK, she doesn't want the fight. We'll give it to someone who does.

Coz literally, she doesn't. She might want it later, on her terms, but the fight is now, not later. and she doesn't want it now.

And it appears they've been trying to book this for a while: Carla said she already accepted a title shot on 3 weeks notice but it fell through. So this is just the latest 'ramping up' of negotiations with Dana going public because Rose won't say yes (which is something she's done before, repeatedly). So assuming Rose's grandfather only just passed away (and not say, 2 months ago), this isn't the reason the fight hasn't been booked yet, either.

If he just died how is that making it the reason she didnt took the fight? At least i believe they have said they want the fight, i have no idea if its a money issue, Rose being a former champ might have a decent contract, she has put some great fights in the UFC, one of the very few WMMA fighters that deserve a spot in the UFC.

I think the problem is that Dana will sometimes say because of timing bit this time he didnt.

Dana isnt exactly obligated to be 100% forthright in negotiations.

So the truth is you didn't want the fight on the UFC's schedule. You wanted it on your schedule (nevermind the reasons).

So the UFC is correct in saying she didn't want the fight.
Or the truth is the UFC didn't want the fight on Rose's schedule, nevermind the reasons.

So it would be correct to say the UFC didn't want the fight.

Does that logic work both ways?

Shit at her rate that’ll set her back two more years. She can’t step on a ladybug without needing a break

Not wanting to do it now and not wanting to do it at all are two very different things.

Either be specific that you think she doesn't want it on the UFC's date or accept your post is garbage. She clearly wants the fight. Also, yes details are indeed important.

Saying she doesn't want the fight implies she doesn't want to fight the champion not that the date is bad timing due to a close relative dying.

From the UFC's perspective, they have a zone for a title fight booking with Weili available sometime around 4 months ago and 4 months from now, they want to give Rose the fight, but she won't say yes. So, saying she doesn't want the fight is correct from that perspective. She can say she wants the fight and mean it 6 months, 12 months, 4 years from now, and still be correct herself, but that's clearly not what the UFC is after. She doesn't want the fight. Fighting Weili in 2022 or whenever she finally does feel like it is a different fight.

And as mentioned, it's not apparent that the reason Rose isn't accepting is because a close relative (who apparently lived on a different continent, FWIW) died. Carla already implied she accepted the title fight on short notice in November (or possibly even earlier), but it fell through. So clearly they've been trying to get Rose to sign for months, and were still trying (and probably still are - this is typical Dana negotiation tactics when a fighter is being difficult). I'm assuming her grandfather didn't die in October/November, so why didn't she sign then? Incidentally Rose is on record as saying she was offered Weili back in March for UFC 248 but 'I didn't feel like it'. So this is perfectly in character for her, family deaths or not.

If this was any other fighter yall would be up in arms about the lack of warrior spirit. Sherdogs collective boner for "thug" rose never ceases to amaze
