Media Rose’s grandfather died

It’s her profession. And not only that. Her culmination of her entire life work is on the line. Grandpa wouldn’t want her to miss that.

I own a small business. A butcher shop. I’ve had the same 4 guys with me for over a decade.
I have lost a lot over that time. And some have as well. I never closed a day in that time. I went to funerals and if I could make it back to work. I made it back. They can go to funerals and take the day or next off. And we’ll see what they want to do. But it would never be over a week under any foreseeable circumstance. But it just depends on the circumstances. If I wasn’t close to these guys I would think differently.

of course i am more than happy ( not happy as were small every man is important) to let them take some days to grieve. But you get through it. . But you just have to keep going. Being sad and miserable and doing nothing only makes it so much worse.
Life can be just brutal. You just have to keep going.
And she will, but she also deserves some time.

you don’t think signing a deal in the first quarter of this year is long enough.

this is the biggest opportunity of her life. I just don’t understand it. And I’m not an insensitive asshole.

A job isn't an obligation. It is just something you do for money.

I certainly should have worded that differently. Perhaps I should have used 'commitment' instead, considering the sort of response that misstep has been getting.

Jake Shields and Khabib both fought shortly after their fathers died without hesitation, and I have more respect for them for being able to put their grief aside and carry on with their obligations.

Oh, shut the fuck up. She didn't even have fight booked.

...and fuck Dana, for once again burying a fighter for no reason.

Training. Something your fat cheeto ass never tried.

RIP grand dad Namajunas
Actually I trained at Jackson's mma from 2008-2012. Had multiple amateur mma fights, kickboxing matches, competed in grapplers quest world championship a few times and the pan ams as a blue belt but whatever kid

That is a pretty sad view. You should not respect a person more or less for how they deal with grief. Also, Khabib took a decent time off, so I bet you respect Cody Stamann even more for fighting a week after his 18 yo brother dies unexpectedly.

It's the type of mentality that's been cultivated among fans by having a piece shit like Dana run the biggest promotion in the sport.

It isn't an obligation if it isn't a signed fight.

I was mainly reacting to the post before mine, which was very dismissive about the whole situation. That post got deleted very quickly, and mine ended up looking much worse than intended without that context. I don't blame anyone for flaming me over it, I suppose that's what I get for biting on a shitpost.

Man some of you are heartless so just cuz they fought that means she has to as well? Everyone is not the same it doesn’t make her any less of a fighter for not fighting in this moment.

Like I said it wouldn't have been them terminating me, it would've been me quitting. Not showing up to work is you quitting, the employer is just refusing to rehire you. Trust me i was pissed because i thought I had a legit case.

Now if I could go back in time I'd never tell my job about the funeral at all. I'd just call off and say I was at the hospital then fudge some paperwork (I just put a blank page over a piece of paper from my doctor so it has the hospital letter head on it and made 60 copies) saying I went to the hospital and I couldn't work for 72 hours. I did that in 2018 when my girlfriend rented a cabin but didn't give me enough time to tell my job.

Shitty situation but I've learned how to work around it since.
You're not quitting if you go attend the funeral and notify them, even if they say you can't go. They have to fire you under those circumstances if they don't want you showing up for your next day of work. No one can strong arm you into quitting, they have to fire you. I want to be clear on that.

Spoken like someone who has never lost anyone close.
