As far as Putin and Ukraine goes really it is perspective isnt it? I mean the Euromaiden revolution on the Russian side is viewed as a far right coup deposing an elected president with western backing whilst Crimea is viewed as liberating a suppressed Russian population from rising Ukrainian nationalism.

russia is a "shithole" now cause it was under leftist regime for over 80 years. you cant turn a shithole country to non shithole country overnight, it takes time but russians are slowly getting there.

Russia won't get better either, for as long as they have an operative of that leftist regime in charge.

It's obvious that the biggest regret Putin has about the USSR is that it collapsed. He'd definitely prefer it if the Soviet Union still existed.

Putin is like a lot of former leftists in the sense that he feels like the "experiment" would have worked as long as they had hollowly pandered to people's conservative sentiments. He refuses to admit that it was a fundamentally flawed project, and that being a "right-winger"/nationalist/conservative is about more than just visiting a church every now and then to keep up public appearances for the masses.

A life-long bureaucrat, corrupted by the system, he's just utterly incapable of comprehending what it truly means to serve the public, and the nation.

The exact opposite.

Putin is my ideological opponent. I wouldn't be doing myself any favours by disregarding his strengths, would I? The guy is cunning and so has a bunch of north Americans believing he's something he's not. And that something is a desirable leader. Lol. He's an authoritarian, manipulative (via violent force) killer. Sure he's got some valuable leadership qualities, to deny that is foolishness, but so is thinking we'd do better with him at the helm.

I also have respect for firearms, people who carry them, wildlife, strange dogs and all sorts of things that could ruin my day. "Respect" doesn't have a single faceted definition like "one". At least not from my perspective.
