'Prometheus' and 'Alien Covenant' explained

Ok, so, the 'Space Jockey' is not an 'Engineer,' it is an 'Alpha.' A higher, smarter, and older species than the Engineers. That was a surprise, and those who mentioned the size difference were right. This character has not been explained in any of the movies yet.

So, we now have 3 types of species in the universe:
1. Humans
2. Predators
3. Alphas

Alphas created the Engineers and the Aliens. Aliens were created to fight the Predators in a past war. Check video below and the subsequent three videos following that one. It explains everything relating to the Alien and Predator movies. There is a spoiler for the up and coming movie "Alien Awakening" due to come out in October of this year. Turns out 'Blade Runner' is part of the 'Alien' franchise.

You're doing a great job of finding a way to take all of the wacky stuff that has been added in various offshoot movies and sequels and trying to make it all co-exist.

But to me, the Space Jockey is still an alien thing maybe with an elephant trunk that landed on LV-426 a long, long time ago and it didn't have much of anything to do with any engineers. For now, I'm just Highlander 2-ing stuff like Prometheus, Covenant and AVP, etc.

I'll leave open the possibility of buying into all of it if they somehow stick the landing but I'm not optimistic.

Ridley wants me to believe that the Space Jockey was an engineer in a suit and I'm telling him to go stick that stuff on the Planet Zeist.

I mean to be fair it doesn't directly contradict Alien besides maybe the "burst from the inside" shot were we don't see any sign of anyone inside the "suit" but again really it does all feel a bit straight forward, humanoid aliens who had some direct connection to earth, feels as you said before like it would be better off as a film of its own.

The original intention of Alien was I think much more for this to be some kind of weird bio engined pilot built into the ship. If anyone had done a sequel following up that aspect I think it would be better off with a director like Cronenberg(circa 90's or early 00's), someone capable of coming with with a Gigerian sex/death mind fuck of a film.

Yeah Cronenberg would be the guy. Apart from his knack for body horror we actually have him fusing Brundlefly with his telepod.

I might say the size difference between the Space Jockey and an engineer in a suit in Prometheus could also qualify as a contradiction, as well as the ship redesign to be less biological. Ridley was trying to cover his tracks a bit to sell the new idea.

Honestly I don't understand why all the hate for the film's. I loved both Prometheus and Covenant. I'm starting to think it's the die hard fans that didn't like the film's due to the plot holes. I'm not the biggest fan of the franchise to begin with so I guess it didn't bother me as much.

But I can't take people seriously when they say they were bored or that they were practically sleeping through the movies.
I wouldn't call myself a die-hard fan. Infact , as surprising as this may sound, I watched Alien and the other Alien movies only after watching Prometheus. I did watch the non canon Alien vs. Predator movie back in 2007.

In one of Kroft's YouTube videos he says that a portion of the script not included in the movie has Elba's character saying the star map found all over the world by ancient peoples was not an invitation but a warning.

Elba says the ancient humans were trying to warn future humanity that they were taken by the Engineers to their base to work as slaves.

-
This makes no dam sense, because an advanced species as the Engineers wouldn't need to come all the way to earth to get slaves to build stuff, they would use androids and robots. Look at humans, we don't use slaves anymore, not just for moral reasons, but because automation is more efficient.

Also: how the heck would the ancient humans know the location of the Engineer base, to be able to draw a star map. They would not have had the knowledge or equipment to be able to draw a map pin pointing the specific planet they went to.

I thought the Engineers home planet was destroyed by David. In fact, didn't Alien Covenant occur there?

We do use slaves, we just euphemistically call them the work force

Yes, but that planet was only one of the Engineer outposts.
Check the video below. SPOILER ALERT for the upcoming "Alien Awakening."

That is news to me.
My understanding is that the maps were made by Alphas (who made the Engineers) for humans to meet with when their technology was advanced enough. It was to be LV-223 before it became a military base and biological weapons storage moon for the Engineers.

No that could not have been their home planet because the people there do not look like the Engineers, they look like humans, more specifically English, which shouldn't be surprising since Covenant was filmed in Australia and New Zealand.

Existenz I think somewhat touched on the kind of atmosphere I'd imagined for an "Alien homeworld" film, I wouldnt say its his best film from that era, by that point he seemed more focused on less fantastical stuff like Crash and Spider but that mix of body horror and losing touch with reality.

Size wise yeah the Jockey looks like he'd need to be more 15 feet tall rather than 8 feet tall to fit in it. Looking at Alien set picks for scale it does still amaze me they actually built that set full size for what must be only a couple of mins of footage but it is I think key to selling the film.

Some still argue that a Space Jockey and an Engineer are the same. I tend to think they are not. Not only the height difference, but the way the whole alien ship and the suit are organically grown. The Engineer ship in Prometheus looks similar but is not the same one from the 1979 'Alien' movie. Plus, the Space Jockey has been fossilized for thousands (if not millions) of years before being discovered by the crew of the Nostromo. I believe it to be an Alpha, and Alphas had nothing against the human race.

Why do you keep saying that. There is a fake fan made youtube video about Alien awakening, but the official movie in production slated for 2022 from Disney, does NOT have a title yet. Stop with the misinformation.

You mean this un-named movie in production? Scheduled for release in October 2021.

Lol at this last page. If only the MOVIES were actually good.

I watched Prometheus 2 days ago, in full, because of this thread. Rapace needed to survive. The music from Prometheus hurt it.. It was hopeful, with some depth. The story itself had some potential depth, so you started to expect it. It never came. Instead, like this last page, fans have to make up depth that isn’t there so they have some interesting sci fi.

The engineers shouldn’t have been shown kick starting life in ceremonial ways around the galaxy, willing to sacrifice themselves, if they were going to be borderline mindless assholes. It’s just fkn stupid. Also, that would have to be BILLIONS of years ago that they planted those seeds on earth, they would be insanely advanced, and it wouldn’t have to disagree with Darwinian evolution. But again, that depth WAS NOT THERE. They did not THINK IT ALL THROUGH. It’s just nothing.. like 30 year old Pierce in horrible old man make-up says. (Wtf was that?)
