Media Pimblett Goes off on Helwani in Interview with Dana White (UPDATE: Helwani Responds).

Do you really not get this, or are you just fucking with @Sweater of AV at this point?

I get that journalists don't pay guests. Now that is tradition or whatever, but I don't understand why a business that relies on guests shouldn't pay. Even if it's relative to the scale of operation. There would be 1/2 the viewers if it was Ariel commentary/analysis and no guests. Usually dude gets the ppv line up right after the ppv. Nice AV, huge fan of zappa

At the end of the day, most of these fighters are not household names even if they are on the up. They should be glad of any extra exposure they get and Ariel is a decent platform on youtube to get it. 2 way street

But what about when it's the opposite. Mayweather or Conor? So only they should be paid for going on Ariels show? Cause they probably bring more people than the show will bring them. Same logic could be applied to UFC, if UFC doesn't get money from lower guys, they shouldn't be paid because they are getting massive exposure.

You're too stupid for words.

<36>

And no, Ariel has never paid either of them. Here's Ariel camping out at Floyd's club waiting to have a chance to speak with him. Floyd isn't getting a cut of this interview numbnuts.

Ariel has always put in more work than any other journalist.

-Fighters shouldn't get paid for interviews cause they are getting exposure.
- Fighters (Mayweather) shouldn't get paid even though he's giving Ariel exposure.

I'm just approaching from a logical perspective. Not from tradition. I don't see logic. Maybe if only guys who are bigger than the show get paid that makes logical sense to me.

That's the first thing you've said that makes sense.

Paddy makes no mention of that during the rant. What does Ariel specifically say?

Trying to understand what the guy's beef is with a guy who gave him airtime when he was a nobody in cage warriors. Helwani promoted this guy before the ufc ever gave a single fuck about him and this is how he repays him.

Seems like such a loyal dude.......

Watch the full clip on YT where he talks about Ariel, he said the episode after he didn't do his show Ariel went on to talk about him and his manager. Ariel interviewed him before, geeze I guess he owes the guy his life now huh? It's not like that's the way Ariel get his connection to future UFC fighter, by interviewing them before they're huge to get an in.

Why do people act like fighting isn't a split personality sport. One personality is for the cameras, another is off camera personality. Of course there are genuine scumbags in the sport, but so many fighters are surrounded by scummy people. I mean Khabib meeting Putin and having some weird views. Khamzat hanging out with Kadyrov. Hell, even Cejudo, Usman, Gaethje went to hang with Kadyrov for a little bit of money. Paddy said some bad words and made up some lies about a journalist on camera in front of Dana and people act like he murdered someone or something. There are so many contradictory and hypocritical people in and around the sport, including the fans.

Because thats fake as shit and fighting is pure .. the purist sport...

Dual personality bullshit is whats wrong with the world today...how about just being yourself?
Whats wrong with that?

Wonder if Paddy gets the irony of him complaining about a guy making money off fighters to a guy who has made millions off fighters?

Ariel is a clown to be certain, but this is some first class brown nosing of the boss from the scouser.
At least the fighters get a cut of the money from Dana.
They get 0 from ariel. Maybe ariel could give them 18% of the revenue like the ufc.
Paddy said ariel wanted him to cancel a paid interview with bt sport so he could come on his show for free. U just know ariel tried the old 'hey were buds' routine.
Even Dana wouldn't try that, hey why don't u not fight for belator and come fight for the ufc for free. Think of all the exposure.

So Ariel should go bankrupt so people can be on his show? Well, that's pretty stupid business, sir.

How does someone give 18% of nothing? I'll wait. it sounds like your gripe is with the people who pay Ariel a contract that doesn't change regardless of who is on his show and how good or bad the views are.....

Hmmm... audience watches a show, show gets paid from how many watch, show features fighters with either Dana/Ariel as the hosts. Yeah I get it's a different scale and ones a sport the other is entertainment, but not sure why a show like Ariels pays nothing. Also I don't care about how it's not expected, it's still the idea Ariel is still making like 500k a year, so the money is coming in from the show.
He's not making ANY money by people specifically buying product/tickets/views to see a specific fighter.

The fighter isn't doing anything worth getting paid in an interview. On the other hand, they train, put their bodies through hell, and literally give blood and brain cells when they fight. That's their profession.

And they DO get paid - publicity drives tickets sales and PPVs for fights, which is how they get paid. Higher profile for any fighter means more revenue in their actual job. They're required to do publicity for UFC events as part of their contracts with the UFC. That's part of their job description.

One could very well ask Paddy why HE isn't paying for that free publicity and public exposure.

Thank you for providing the reasons why journalists should never pay fighters instead of resorting to insults.

I do think however this could be a conversation down the road. Hypothetically if the sport blew up lets say as big as soccer and Ariel was still on top. They get so many viewers they start generating millions, wouldn't there be a point where they should break off a piece to the guests? At the end of the day I just see it as guys making money.

Why would he have to pay and not a major sports network or news service like ESPN, AP, Reuters? If that becomes a standard model, then yes. If it's just him because he's independent, no. They all make money the same way from covering sports. The fact that he decided to stay smaller, and control the production himself also means he takes on the risks, but it doesn't magically make him not a journalist.

Top notch irony to be talking about Ariel making money off fighters when he is sitting across the table from Dana White. Maybe Dana can use some of that fighter pay to import more snow this Christmas

It's hard to really find anything wrong with Ariel's retort in this instance in my opinion. I would say he maybe took things a touch personally when money was requested for an interview, but getting paid for a media interview that you initiated isn't particularly reasonable. Ariel is also providing proof whereas Dana and Paddy's issues are predominately baseless. I'm not much an Ariel guy (or hater), but I don't feel he is the one that looks bad in this instance.

So ariel doesn't own the mma hour and is on an already agreed upon contract?
