Yan can be next after Umar

Sean should be probably 2 wins from a number 1 contender bout. But given the UFC favoritism he receives, maybe 1 win to get a #1 contender match. Win that too and then maybe next for the title depending on what else has occurred
 
Yan is awesome but Merab annoying style beats him again no questions asked
 
Petr will beat Merab in rematch. He wasn't in good condition that fight. Merab is a one trick pony. Petr can and will faze him with some shots.

Yan can sit and wait for the next shot after Umar if he wants. Or fight someone who has earned a #1 contender fight.

Sean has had enough gifts far beyond what he has earned. He shouldn't be handed a #1 contender fight.

He got beat very easily by Merab without threatening to even be competitive.
He was basically handed a title shot v Aljo for very little. Credit he won it. But he never should have had it.
His first defence was a pisstake.

Let him earn something for a change.
 
I eventually want Yan to fight Umar so he can be comprehensively beat in every aspect of MMA.

That’s makes no sense, those literally can be made right now. The division is already open wirh a new champion and most of the top contenders hasn’t fought each other aside from Sandhagen & Umar.

In what world is O'Malley vs Cejudo happening soon lmao, Cejudo is done & shouldn't be fighting top 5 fighters ever again.

O'Malley vs Cejudo would sell with the theatrics as a great co-main or 3rd fight on a PPV card. Both coming off losses to Merab.

Umar beats Merab he faces Yan(#1 contender after Umar), we can get Sandhagen vs Merab(fresh interesting matchup), and Sean vs Cejudo that's been building for years.

Or why not throw O'Malley vs Sandhagen right now set up the next contender after Yan.

"Would sell" is the driving factor above all else? Cejudo loses to Sterling, loses to Merab, is ranked #7.... and is somehow fighting the #1 ranked bantamweight next? Total nonsense. You're thinking too much in storylines & drama rather than any degree of sporting meritocracy. Cejudo should be fighting someone like Marlon Vera or Mario Bautista next.

Sellability is what works for UFC and we all know they want to give O'Malley sellable fights and possibly a good named win after all the promotional money they spent on him

I mentioned Cejudo vs O'Malley as sellability IS a huge factor, they're both coming off losses from Merab, it'll always be a great skill test for Sean vs another HQ grappler in Cejudo for whoever wins the Merab/Umar fight.

Sandhagen vs Sean would work the best, however Sandhagen vs Merab would be a FAR better fresh matchup if Merab were to lose. If not now that i think about it, Merab off a loss vs Figgy would be a fun fun fight considering Figgy's grappling as well.

BW is extremely stacked so you can't go wrong really. If Merab loses in Febuary for example for Umar. It can go Figgy vs Merab/Umar loser, O'Malley vs Sandhagen, Yan vs Winner of Umar/Merab.
 
Make merab fight Umar sometime this winter. Then make Yan fight Umar for the belt afterwards.
 
Let omalley fight sandhagen and give yan the winner of umar and merab.

Wasn't competitive?? The fight was 48-47, that's a competitive fight. Merab largely won by TDs and did literally zero damage. That first round that all judges scored for Merab was very close.

I would agree if Ramadan wasn't a thing.

Merab seems set on fighting March/April, which is his right as champion to decide when he's ready to fight. Umar almost certainly won't fight or train during Ramadan. So if the UFC need main events filled, they will likely do Merab vs Yan in March or April. At the end of the day that's Umar's fault.
