Final Fantasy franchise has sold in excess of 180M units worldwide, PSU reports. A coming musical theatre show has also been revealed. Full read here (external) but little meat on bone ATM.

Yikes, Sony about to lose a couple billion a year from losing out on CoD. Not looking good. Sucks that regulators are basically useless. I thought the emails were enough of a reason to prevent the deal but here we are. Sony earns more from CoD than its AAA single player games combined. This is why they going so hard on live service games. They help fund other titles as well. Not sure where they go from here. Lock down SquareEnix? We all know Microsoft already has Japan in its crosshairs. Time to make a deal and hope for the best.

TBH, there were so many twists and turns it was hard to keep up with. The silver lining might be that this really pushes Sony to develop and a deliver a BIC First Person shooter to rival CoD.

MS still has to get through the CMA which they are negotiating with now. Apparently they've already agreed to a small divestiture. No details as far as what they are getting rid of. Even then COD wont go away right away. MS will at least wait until PS6 before pulling it. Also during the PI hearing it was announced that MS and Sony do have some sort of agreement but no details were given.

Those who want quality will stay Sony; those wanting otherwise, elsewhere.

I'm interested to see what happens to Activision if the deal goes through. Jim Ryan suspected the whole thing would be hell for MS because most employees would take the offer to leave and not look back. When Bungie was purchased by Sony they added an extra billion just so the employees would stay. Sony understands how important the actual employees are that work for the company more so than the actual name of the company.

I really can't envision cutting off COD from PlayStation though. At least not for a few years. If Sony is losing billions then MS stands to lose billions more of revenue as well if they pull COD from PS. Maybe it'll drive the market towards XBox but I doubt it. It won't be significant enough to make up the losses. Way too much is to be made with COD.

Hoping Marathon will fill some of that void but they got a severe mountain to climb.

Pretty much every single report run by each company\regulator showed that at most 5% would leave. I think the highest I saw was 20% but I don't think the guy could even explain how he got those numbers.

As long as there a quality multi-platform shooter most people will stay, Sony need to be working for that before the deal runs out with Activision which I hope the ten year deal is still on.

This fps game is looking more and more promising still a long way to release but the movement looks smooth and the gameplay looks engaging,

I think adding the ability to prone would add more depth to the movement and maybe the maps need to be more populated
I think in-game events after every extraction phase for a sense of Crescendo to the last extraction.

@Valhoven link not showing bro, can you help.

Evan Wells has retired from Naughty Dog ( Co-President)
https://www.naughtydog.com/blog/evan_wells_retirement_naughty_dog

Dogs,

After 25 years at Naughty Dog, I wanted to share with all of you that I've decided to retire at the end of this year.

This is something that I've been discussing with Naughty Dog's Studio Leadership Team for well over a year, and with Neil for even longer than that. The decision brings with it overwhelming and conflicting emotions, but I've come to realize that I'm content with my time at the studio and all that we've accomplished together over the last 25 years. I couldn't be more confident in Neil's ability to carry on running the studio. It's the right time for me to provide the opportunity for him and the others on the Studio Leadership Team to steer the studio into a successful future.

I've been making games professionally for over 30 years, and Naughty Dog has been my home for over half my life! I've seen this studio grow from hire number 14 (me!) during the Crash 3 days in 1998 to over 400 Dogs today. Every major life milestone I can track with a Naughty Dog project – I met my wife during Crash Team Racing, we took our honeymoon after shipping Jak 2, had our first child E3 week when we announced Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and our second child was born right in the thick of development on The Last of Us.

Working here has been awe inspiring and I have nothing but gratitude for everything that I've been able to learn and be a part of. And, getting to collaborate with the passionate and driven teams at SIE and the other PlayStation Studios has been a pleasure. I've never taken for granted the opportunity I've had to be surrounded by such impressive creativity and talent and I'm thankful to all – past and present – for teaching me so much.

There's never a perfect time to step away, but I'm incredibly confident that I'll be leaving the studio in the best hands. Neil and the rest of the capable and dynamic Studio Leadership Team are perfectly suited to ensure Naughty Dog continues to lead the industry - not only in the games we make, but the environment in which we make them. I am positive that Naughty Dog will continue to push the industry and our medium forward.

I couldn't be more excited about our current projects and not getting to see those games to completion is going to be hard. But we've never had a stronger team in place to ensure that we will deliver them in a way that will set industry standards and exceed all expectations.

Finally, to all the Dogs in the Kennel - I am humbled to see what you all have accomplished, and I am thrilled to have the honor to watch from the sidelines as you all continue to uphold the well-established development culture that has led to our good fortune and string of successful games. I have no doubt Naughty Dog will reach new heights and continue to raise the bar for the state of the art.

Thank you for what has truly been a tremendous adventure, I'm thrilled to see what the future holds for this inspiring team and I'm so proud of you all!

Awesome train advertisement/marketing for Spidey 2 akin to larger-than-life Ragnarök Leviathan axe installations; never seen before:
