FFVI – greatest game of all-time and the only journey worthy of peerage with Bloodborne, IMO – has current Square Enix staff wanting a remake. Consideration only when FFVII is done, says SE Vice President:

Bungie is apparently targeting Marathon as the ultimate PS5 live service shooter with single-digit load times (from readying up to being live on server) to secrets-riddled maps for exploration + map missions amidst vP competitive play. There's also an oxygen survival system in place, adding to immersion and tension as enemies can target and shatter your oxygen systems/canisters.

Tom Henderson amongst others are contributing to these findings at time of writing. Exciting stuff. Let's see what happens.

This came up the other day across the web re: future Call of Duties but figured I'd share now.

Nothing in stone of course but there are reported worries from Sony about working with Activision as they have in a post-acquisition setting because of insider or underway developer, platform, and product information making its way to Activision owner Microsoft. With Sony long since the industry innovator and M/s not, that's a reasonable concern, IMO.

There's possibly a years-since precedent already set with Minecraft after Mojang (title developer) fell under M/s ownership. Sony's relationship with developer changed dramatically after the fact, I'll infer.

This is a good point by Sony and I agree with their concerns. Both consoles are in a similar situation because MS will also have to hand over their console to Bungie.

MS sent over Series X/S hardware before it came out to San Diego for the first non exclusive MLB The Show port for 2021

The latest update for Horizon Forbidden West added a tribute to Lance Reddick in game (DLC location by the looks of it)

Sony is apparently preparing a major buyout of Warner Bros. Discovery assets. I’d wondered when reading if the Mortal Kombat property could get swept up in this with Warner having been pub and rights holder?

Yeah this came up in 2020 when WB were starting to put out feelers for selling some their game business off. Mortal Kombat would transfer over ( as WB bought all of Midway's assets) if the gaming business was part of the deal

I saw that too but it’s apparently being grossly mischaracterized. WB is not selling their shows and films - they’re selling the music publishing rights. So everyone saying “oh my god, Sony is going to own DC!” they actually aren’t. People just can’t read.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. Swore I saw film and TV assets in there too.

It’s because of how the headlines are being written. I read it that way too first, then realized I was glossing over the critical word, being MUSIC. If a person read the headline quickly and missed that key word then it’s easy to see how they’d jump to a different conclusion. I went “holy shit!” When I first read the headline too until I actually read the articles and then had to do a double take.

Finding it an affront to get into FC6. From following a turtle NPC GIF-running up a mountain trail to shadowless fruit on the ground that looks like basketballs, this is shamelessly dated piss. Cinematics are also plastic AF; hasn’t changed in almost 10 years.

Already got stuck in between dock and water boundary plus had NPC (Juan) matrix up-down at Mach 1 in glitch when I got too close and didn’t move away.

Gun mechanics and environmental interaction are lame too compared to what we’re getting with Returnal and other modern-day AAA titles. With no FOV option in 2023, I think I’m done with this AA game from 2015. Ubi is such trash. They call this GOTY edition too after a single outlet, iirc, dubiously gave them the distinction. What a laugh. Makes me appreciate Sony first-party titles even more; carrying gaming so far forward that others are asthmatic in the dust.

The demand for quality in gaming isn't waning as Sony/PS5 still dominates hardware sales (US):

Sony’s new pro controller, the DualSense Edge continues to lead in sales both unit and dollars for accessories in 2023. It also finished in the top spot for May 2023 for dollar sales.

What’s most impressive about all this is that PlayStation was able to maintain a sales lead in the US despite the fact that The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom launched last month. In every category, Zelda boosted sales for Nintendo, across games, accessories and hardware.

I never played FFVI, but heard nothing but good things about it.
