No Limit Hold 'Em Poker Discussion

I'm triggered so I'm gonna come here. This shit happens like every day but I'm going to bump this thread. So I'm playing PLO and I get Ac8c8h5d and the flop comes Q82 rainbow. I pot it. Player calls. I pot again on a 7s turn, now a flush draw out there. She pots me back. I'm thinking does she have the Queens? Anyway I go all in. Turns out all she had was a 674Q when she did this and hit a 6 outer on me on a 5 river. I'm a little bit in disbelief but these fucking morons.

I'll try to remember. Pre-flop someone potted and 3 other people called. When I potted on flop I was in CO while dumb player was on button. It was only them who called. I color code motherfuckers all day and she earned the color of dumb mfer who I can stack.

Yikes. PLO can be a fucker sometimes, but yeah, that’s especially poor.

You don’t mind the beats, but the beats + bad play can be a right ball ache.

We used to play 6 card Omaha back in the day….sometimes hi/lo, too. That was fun, but fuck when you’re luck was out, you could lose 20 buy ins in a 4 hour session quite easily.

When I grind NLHE all day a good day would be winning 3 or 4 buyins or maybe more depending on if things go my way. When I grind PLO I can win 5 buy-ins in 10 minutes. I could lose 5 buy ins too but if I just make correct decisions and get my money in good all I have to do is hold on the turn or river. I love PLO because of how fast it is but yeah a bad day can be really bad. I was hit with a 1 outer yesterday in a huge pot :(

Yeah, that’s kind of the beauty of PLO. Equities run close. Pretty hard to get your money in good every time, though!

Still when people call off with the bare Q high flush draw to beat your set, or their weak straight draw beats your top 2/flush draw combo it can be hard work.

Tbh, I always find it a lot harder to play disciplined at PLO compared to NLH. In a loose game all the hands look so pretty!!

The key is to only really play hands that will make the nuts. You should be careful with small pocket pairs because set over set is so damn common. So playing hands that will make nut flush, nut full house like high pocket pairs and Ax type hands that will sometimes give you a top boat or set. Broadway hands that will make nut straight. You get the picture. I don't like getting my money in unless I feel I'm at 65% or more. Even though I grind poker all the time I'm not really a gambler. I don't gamble on anything besides poker. So like 55/45 hands I just kind of avoid. Same is true with NL. January will make 9 years since I've been doing this but still I'll have a hand just about every day I'll plug into a calculator and check it out and look at equities.

65% or more? Wow. I get what you're saying, but poker being poker, you'll never win like that surely?

Sometimes you just have to accept you'll get coolered, or your bluff won't work, or you get cold decked etc etc.

I mean you can literally have the nuts and not be 65%.......PLO especially.

I'll take the 55% equity all day every day!!!!!

If you’re running bad in PLO, just watch this to feel better

I mean 65% or more is ideal and preferred. Yeah coolers are just a natural part of the game and they are going to happen. When it comes to bluffs I try to create more of a nit image so my bluffs will get through more often. It's sort of like I'll let small pots go but I'll fight hard for big pots and bluff the fuck out of someone with my nitty image. When it comes to running bad man that shit is the worst. Can't even flop a pair on hands you don't fucking play lol.

Think my biggest leak is after playing 2-3 hours of good solid poker I often get bored, maybe have a beer or two and invariably start playing too many hands pre, and bluffing too much/big as a result.

Yeah there's times playing NL where there just isn't much excitement and you get bored with it. That's another reason I like PLO. I can get 12 hours of NL results in like an hour of PLO results. It's just the speed of PLO. The biggest problem with PLO live games is you need quite a bit of a bankroll to be able to manage it. Online you can build a bankroll. If someone asked me which game to become a pro at I'd say PLO. The competition is easier, it really is, most NL players who play for cash have very solid fundamentals or at least online they do.

100%.

Find 90% of NLH players are at least competent. You still get a decent amount of poor players in PLO, playing live at least.

Man oh my fucking God. So last night I enter into this $11 PLO tournament and I never play these fucking things because it's PLOLOLOL but for fun I did.

So I make it fucking deep, I remember going on the last break I had and I was sitting at 1/33. I'm thinking ok I can make a final table from here maybe. So I play right poker and bam I'm on the final fucking table about 45 minutes later with 4 other people left.

I get into this hand and I'm in the BB with KK78. Guy raises and it folds to me and I just call here because every spot is money and there's two stacks half the size of mine. Flop comes K99. Oh my fucking God JACKPOT BABY. I check and the raiser pots it and we get it all in. Dude has A978. DONT YOU FUCKING KNOW THE LAST 9 PEELS OFF AND HE HAS IT. BUSTED!!!

This game is fucking brutal. I'm so fucking happy and so fucking tilted at the same time. Arghhhhh FUUUUUU ahklsfhlkfsjjdf
