No Limit Hold 'Em Poker Discussion

Playing my first big tourney on a while next week. ...... I won a seat to a 3k . Its a 1.5 rebuy till level 12. Im not rebuying at 1500 a pop lol. Im thinking im a playing with people ALOT better than me .

I was planning the ole nit strategy but that seems to not go well in these.

Any strategy yall who are regulars would employ when you know your likely the fish at the table for one of these?
Not sure if this already started, just now seeing this.

Early on in tournaments, when everybody is deep stacked with a lot of blinds you should be actively looking for spots to get in pots cheap and look at flops. Losing a few big blinds when you have 200 of them isn't a big deal. You're going to have to pray to run good, but you'll also have a lot of opportunity to get a big double or triple up.

Big blind amounts are always going to tie into strategy for how you should play a tournament. Always be aware of how many you have. Keep an eye on this. Also think about next blind levels. When you get below 50 big blinds, you should start tightening up. This is the time to start playing like a nit.

When you get below 20 big blinds, you need to start looking for opportunities to jam pre-flop. Hands like 88 or AJo are good enough, though you won't feel great about it. Winning a big pot is great if you get called, but also taking the blinds (and antes if they have them) will still have a benefit. It will at least prolong your tournament life, even if it's just a little bit.

If you run card dead, and get to 10 big blinds, you need to start jamming hands worse than AJo or 88. You need a double asap and you might have to take a lot of risk on.

Two things are of the utmost importance in winning tournaments. The first is your actual poker skill. The second is your ability to navigate a tournament. I can't help you with the skill part but I can give you an outline on how to do the navigation part. Good luck.

It was last weekend. I made ot to the rebuy cut off. Then I made it to the "bingo" stage (blinds get really high an everyone going all in) had a few blinds left went all in on 55 lost. was maybe 30 min from bubble :( .

But dude to see a flip from start was crazy priced. We started wirh 100k chips - blinds begin 100 100 (increase every 20 min) from start to see a flop was min 2500 from first hand. Folks were playing fast an loose from jump. Im.a nit but hit a few all ins early and got up to 280k but lost a big one right after rebuys ended had KK.

Had alot of fun but no cash

Global poker has tournaments running now that are 10k guarantee you can enter for $11, and 30k that you can get in for $33.

Right now you can get 2 $99 entry tickets for $179. Which would be for a 100k+ prize pool tourney.

The 100k tournament is in 5 days and is only $99 to enter.
