Media Nice beef brewing between Khamzat and Strickland

Your right about the "levels"

Strickland has been a Champion and is a title Challenger.

Khamzat has pretty much beaten only one ranked opponent in his career.

They are not at the same level.

Kamzat has promise.... But face it... Any other fighter with his record and actual accomplishments would still be considered a prospect.
If for some reason Khamzat got the (unearned) titleshot against Adesanya, it would had most likely ended with a quick finish like Khamzat vs Rob or Khamzat vs Kevin Holland. Consensus before their fight was that Rob had the best defensive wrestling in MW.

You stop being a prospect when you win against top 5 fighters, which Strickland never did before his titleshot. Khamzat beat Burns, Usman, and Rob. Lee Jingliang was also ranked, Holland has also been ranked.

He has basically won 3 number one contender fights; Burns, Usman and Whittaker.
Usman took the Khamzat fight because he really liked his chances against Strickland, considering how their fight at WW went.

Strickland in the same situation lost to Pereira and Cannonier.

Khamzat has never lost a fight or a first round, Strickland has 8 split decisions and 6 losses, and lost round 1 vs unranked Abus in the fight before his titleshot. He's also never finished an opponent who was ranked at the time. Different level, indeed.

Matt Serra was also a champion at one point too lol

But it’s fine, we all don’t have to look at these things with the same lens.

If that’s the metric you go by, fair point.

I disagree, I think Khamzat talent/skill wise is a few tiers above Strickland. Not just by fights or achievements inside the cage but by the personal experience and stories of many fighters that have trained with him.

Much of the legend of GSP came from training sessions against much bigger opponents and how he manhandled them in practice.

Time (and fate) will reveal who is better.

Sure... Good chat.

DDP did defend against all time great Izzy.

Khamzat may or may not be levels better, but he has not proven it in the cage against elite competition.... So the future may prove the claim. Bobby Knuckles was a great scalp and he looked terrifyng taking it.

All true.

But still we wait for Khamzat to earn his legacy in the cage... I can't wait for him to get busy and start fighting regularly.

"The Man Dance"

lmao

basically just american hillbillies who think his stupid political rants are funny or "based" no one actually enjoys watching him fight
It's identity based fandom, which is how combat sports fandom has always existed. Mexicans root for Canelo, Filipinos root for Pacquiao. The same idiots who get upset because Muslim fans support their fellow Muslim Dagi or Chechen fighters "strictly due to religion" are the ones who root for Strickland and Colby strictly because they're white American males, LOL. Biggest hypocrites on earth.

Just imagine if DDP had Khamzat in his corner and Pereira in Seans's

shit would be wildin brah..
Only thing preventing this is DDP probably gonna fight Khamzat, that would be wild though lol.

If DDP beats Sean, and Khamzat beats DDP, i can guarantee they'll make Khamzat-Poatan mega fight (assuming Poatan beats Ankalaev). That would be incredible.

All I heard was, “i recognize Chimmy smash. chimmy probly smash me really ez. I can still talk shit tho!”

KHamzat shall destroy him for that

Ramzan is a good guy. Dont allow the media to sway you. The Mma community should be getting Ramzans back

Damn its crazy how messy but affective SEan's media shit is, I don't listen to any of it but already it's hyping up that fight if Sean beats DDP when nobody has talked about that match-up for the last 4 months.

Yeah, just as some fans called Jones a genius for ducking Aspinall "he's doing it to hype the fight!!", when in reality he did it to get an easier title defense vs ancient Stipe.
More money, less risk.

I think it's more likely Sean got his panties in a twist about potentially first having to defend against Khamzat, after he beat Usman when Sean was champ. That's a rough first defense, hence he was very vocal about him not deserving it.

After Khamzat beat Whittaker, he got angry that Khamzat was about to leapfrog him for the titleshot and ramped up the personal attacks to 11.

I doubt there's any deeper strategy involved other than a fragile ego trying to maintain championship pay, but it's true that it would help to hype the fight up if he beats Dricus.

However, I don't see him calling out Khamzat in that case either. Most likely he would angle for Dricus 3 or Imavov 2 instead, I would be pleasantly surprised if he proves me wrong.

Honestly if it's either DDP or Strickland against Khamzat next, rather it be DDP. Strickland should just be a high level gate keeper at MW instead of Whittaker. If he loses this title fight his ass better put together a good streak to earn another shot.

I don't think he has a choice as the UFC is really good at pushing the limits of what people will tolerate and now its looking like Khamzat is the "new" guy that fans want to see be champion. Also, Sean already beat Imavov on short notice and if he wins tonight that's kind of like beating DDP twice. Also who started the idea that champs get to chose who they fight, its funny listening to Ilia and DDP talk like they have 5 defenses and cleared out the division? I could easily see Khamzaht and Imavov beating Sean and DDP and Arnold Alan/Volk (maybe) beating Ilia.
