My ADD Training Log - 2012

BJJ
- 1.5 Hours

Got in an all-levels class this morning. Very unusual for me, I usually can't make it on the weekends. Worked on some lapel chokes from side control - good stuff. I have been feeling pretty good & relaxed while rolling. I'm doing a better job of using my size & strength only when necessary. Still a long way to go, but I'm improving.

I have no idea, but glad you are paying attention to detail.

Couple days late logging this, but I climbed Koko Head Crater while in Hawaii this week. Awesome climb, awesome views. This is a 1300-foot climb up an abandoned tram-track on Oahu, Hawaii. Took about 1.5 hours round-trip, but I took some breaks & just chilled for a while at the top.

Squats

Rode my bike to & from the gym, its not far, only about 2 miles, but it was a great warmup. Squats felt good today until the last set. And then my technique was all over the place, so I only got 6 reps. Had to get back to work, so no time for DB Rows today.

BJJ - 2 Hours


1 Hour advanced class followed by 1 hour sparring. The class focused on Spider Guard, which I've always had trouble with, so it was good for me. Just need more reps...We worked on an inside trip takedown, which, if it misses transitions easily into a single. We worked on transitioning from inside trip->single leg-> ankle lock.

The class was good because we had a bunch of big guys there, including a couple of ex-college wrestlers that are about 240lb. One guy, Zeb, won the World's a couple of years ago as a white belt and is looking really good to take it as a Blue Belt this year. In the sparring session, we rolled 1 7 minute round, followed by another 7 minute round with no break. Then we had 2 minute breaks between each 7 minute round. I was EXHAUSTED.

In other news, my gym is no longer Gracie Barra. Too much contractual issues, so my instructor split. We are now Ricardo Testai Brazilian Jui-jitsu. I don't think this is going to change much at all for me. I like my instructors & training partners & I like the Gold's Gym location.

Another exhausting but good class tonight. Inside trip takedown & worked on spider guard. Learned to move my hips a little better tonight with spider guard.

Also did some grip work today while driving:

No. It appears to be a midget impersonating him, though.

Really fast workout today, in & out in about 40 minutes. Rests between sets were just to change the weight or wait on the guy in the rack next to me (the racks are really close).
