BJJ - 1 Hour

Worked on outside hook sweep to an inside trip takedown. Good stuff. Also worked on a spider guard pass.

Been super busy at work lately. Its just not slowing down at all. Putting in a ton of hours, starting early & finishing late. Travel's picking up. Wife & girlfriend are both stressing me out. Can't complain too much though, I'll be back in Hawaii in a few weeks.

808 ALL DAY. no place in da world as good as HAWAII.

Not the kind of music that usually gets posted here, but this shit keeps me sane:

Got in a quick workout today, biked to & from the gym, which was nice. Going to try to get my workouts in early this week, have a crazy schedule coming up. Have to leave Wed for Hawaii, then come back Friday. Super short trip for a critical meeting on Thursday.

Solid work today. Rode my bike to & from the gym for a little conditioning as well. Deadlifts felt really strong and fast, but my back was tight between sets, so I just got my 3 planned reps at 405 & didn't go for AMRAP. With my back already a little tight, didn't want to push it, especially with a 5+ hour flight to Hawaii tomorrow. Push Press also felt solid. 205 felt heavy, but no problems getting my 3 reps. Haven't done Push Press in a long time, so its understandable that 205 was heavy.

Have a super quick trip to Hawaii coming up. It's going to suck. Flight out Wednesday morning, customer meeting Wed afternoon, customer dinner Wed night, meetings all day Thursday, fly back Friday. Whew!

Fuck...

I'm thinking about doing a Powerlifting Comp in September. Dammit its super close (25 minutes away), not expensive, and I have a friend competing.....

Really running out of excuses for why I shouldn't do it. Except that I've never done one before & I feel really week right now & would probably just suck.

I have no idea what I can pause bench. Maybe 250? 280? Who knows....

Deadlifts I'm probably good for 475. Squats....425? Maybe more, not sure....

I'd be in the over 40, 220 lb division. Have to decide by Monday 8/27...comp is on 9/15...

Do it.

Before someone reads that & I get my ass kicked, let me just clarify that the whole wife/gf thing was a joke...

3x205

1x265

Got back from Hawaii around midnight last night & hit the gym this morning. Got a phone call from home & had to leave the gym early. But I least I got to do some paused benching, which I've never done before. All in all, it felt pretty good. I got an easy triple at 255 and then just wanted to try a single at 265, which was also not difficult, probably could have hit that for a triple as well.

I've decided to enter my 1st powerlifting competition. It's the "Socal Powerlifting Championship". USPA is the governing body, its in Long Beach on Sept 15th. I'll be competing raw, 220-lb weight class, Master's division (40-44). At least that's what I'm thinking, still need to send in the form.

I'll continue over the next 2 weeks to figure out what my openers will be, right now I'm thinking 365 on squat, 255 on Bench, and 430 on deadlift. Those are roughly 90% of my current 1RM for each lift. I also need to lose a couple of pounds to make sure I can weigh in under 220, the weight shouldn't be much of an issue.

Overall, I'm really excited about it!

Nice Calvus. Hope you get some video from the meet. Should be an awesome experience for you.
