Regarding the hobbit critique, I saw it in 2D and liked it. The first part (the first maybe 30+ mins) was pretty bad and dragged way too long, but it eventually picked up the pace and was overall pretty enjoyable. Also liked the music and the overall cinematography. It's not as good as any of the LOTR movies, but I'll go see the second part (unless the consensus turns out to be that it was much worse than part 1).

Thanks guys. I don't think the back is too bad, but we'll see over the next couple of days. The pain is very low on the right side. It happened while deadlifting 405. I went ahead & did 455 after, which didn't seem to bother anything as long as I made sure to stick my ass out. Doesn't seem to be limiting my movement much right now, hot tub later tonight for sure.
 
Hope the back feels better! I had a lower back strain (I think it was a strain) earlier this year. For almost a week I had some bad lower back pain. I had trouble moving. But it was back to normal in almost two weeks.

Just make sure to take it easy. How bad is the pain?
 
Pain is not too bad. Feels about the same today as yesterday...

Just wanted to move some today & see how the back felt. Overall it felt fine - it's a little tight, but didn't hinder my performance. I enjoyed the sprints & bounding, I think I'll start doing that more often. Also, I worked out today in UA Cold Gear tights - top & bottom. Felt awesome. I'm just like GSP now.

Set a nice PR in squats today & it felt easy. No issues with my back. Feeling strong for the upcoming PL meet. Got a nice, super clean paused single on bench at 275 & ran out of time. Good workout though - heaving out for NYE shortly!
 
Did you get wear anything over the cold gear, or was it just straight-out superhero time.

I am suspecting the latter, as the JauntyCentre equipment detected a massive spike in sexiness emissions in the California area around the time of the workout.
 
Very solid end to 2012 right there.

Cleaning up at the PL comp will be a great way to kick off 2013. :)

LOL - it's tough to say for sure, since I've only worn the tights once. However, in all seriousness, it felt great, warmups were quick & easy, legs felt really good.
 
Year-End Summary

2012 was a pretty good year!!

Noteworthy Accomplishments:
- Competed in my 1st Powerlifting meet, totaled 1158 @ 215
- Received my Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu
- Competed in 4 Scottish Highland Games Competitions, set PRs in each one.

Here's my overall improvement in my major lifts in 2012:

Bench Press: 305-->315 (+10 lbs)
Paused Bench Press: 285-->290 (just started doing this)
Squat: 405-->415 (+10 lbs)
Deadlift: 465-->475 (+10 lbs)
SOHP: 205 --> 185 (-20 lbs)
Push Press: 245 --> 225 (-20 lbs)

Big 3 Gym Total: 1175-->1205
Wilks: 327.7-->338.1

Bodyweight: 215-->212....no real change...

In summary, the improvement on the big 3 wasn't HUGE, but I learned a lot & made some nice progress. I feel like I'm turning the corner a bit in my lifting & I have to be a little smarter in my training to get the gains now. Slowly figuring things out. Overhead pressing took a hit, since I didn't focus on it much this year.

But all-in-all, I'm 40 years old, I've been lifting for less than 3 years, so don't have much to complain about.

I've also got a PL comp in 10 days, so I expect to bump these numbers up a bit :)
