THROWING
Open Stone

5x Overhead Throws
5x Standing Throws focused on turning right foot, driving with right leg
5x Standing Throws focused Left arm & block
5x Standing Throws trying to put it all together & keep my head up
10x Full Throws

LWFD
10x Full Throws - work on keeping my head up & bending my legs

Throwing was decent today. OS Full throws were all around 40-41', decent for me, especially since I was only going about 90%. LWFD, same thing, throws were all 47-49'. Need to keep my head up while throwing. In pretty much every event.

BJJ - Gi
- Almost 2 hours

Good class tonight, worked on a De la Riva guard pass & then a counter. I struggled with both, need repetition. Sparred 5 6 minute rounds, focused on open guard & defense.

Thanks guys - my squats are feeling really good right now, so much better than my deadlift. A year ago it was the other way around...

The 5x385 felt pretty good, but I definitely left some in the tank. I had to fart really bad during that set, but there were 2 smoking hot girls working out on the leg curl machine right behind me. So I'm squatting & I'm really focusing on not farting more than anything else...

Deadlifts

MAJOR tightness in my lower back during these. Just couldn't get it worked out, so I stopped. Went home & took an 800mg Ibuprofeno (yeah it came from Mexico) & am following it up with a Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA (not from Mexico).

I'll be deloading next week while working in Hawaii. Hopefully my back will settle down & I'll be able to deadlift again the week after.

MAJOR tightness in my lower back during these. Just couldn't get it worked out, so I stopped. Went home & took an 800mg Ibuprofeno (yeah it came from Mexico) & am following it up with a Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA (not from Mexico).

I'll be deloading next week while working in Hawaii. Hopefully my back will settle down & I'll be able to deadlift again the week after.

Damn. This sucks. I don't know what's wrong with your back but I just recently hurt my neck pretty bad again, and I would not have been able to train if I didn't take a hot shower beforehand and let the water run on the hurt area for like 15 minutes while doing light stretches etc. Idk, might be worth a try.

I don't think its really injured, but I do think it spazzed out a bit when I tried to deadlift a couple of weeks ago with a pulled hamstring. My fault obviously, I think I was unconsciously compensating for the hamstring & pulled with my back. Since then my back has just been getting really tight when I put stress on it. I'm hoping the deload week will sort things out. It didn't bother me at all with squats on Monday. Yeah I might try shower or Jacuzzi prior to my next deadlift session. Unless the pain persist, I'm still planning on benching & squatting on Friday. I was also behind a desk for most of my 13-hour work day today. So that probably played a part as well...

I don't know how old you are but now that I'm in my 30s working a desk all day, I'm starting to make mobility and prehab a serious priority. Long walks with the dog in the morning, hip flexor/quad/upper back stretches every 2 hours at work, foam rolling all the time...

Hope it feels better soon.

Yep its important, I do some of that, but could and should do more. BTW, I'm 40.
