Yea, locking a shoop thread doesn't make much sense, barring it's getting derailed. I totally agree with you.Looks like teh fabled Incredulous Cormier thread was closed earlier this year. It's been active every year since it started 10/10/2014.
The original creator & shooping godfather @Chuck popped into the thread & suggested closing it because most or all of the original shoops went missing after some of teh website upgrades.
Personally, I'm of the opinion that if people are still having fun with it 8,800 posts later then "Let Us Bang Bro~"
It's a great time capsule thread that shows the OG shoopehz from shortly after this Shooping scene was created... even if we can't see their art. There are still thousands of active arts there to see.
It's fine to take it off of sticky if that's the issue, but I just don't understand why it has to be locked.
Anyone else feel this way? Can anyone explain to me the reasoning behind locking any shooping thread ever?
Is it just me, or are there a lot less people voting this year when compared to the previous years?
Think traffic is down a bit here, but there isn't too much difference from last year's Paint contest (not a huge difference in total voters numbers).
I think the voting is just a lot closer this year.
I seem to recall some contests where there were 60 or 90 votes for entries, which would be 2-3x more than now. Maybe it was the year before last. I just hope more people participate in these contests, they're by far the greatest thing on Sherdog.
For sure, we used to get way more votes a few years ago; we also used to get a banner, which alerted more people to the thread. I think the traffic here has dropped off a bit in recent years, and a lot of posters moved on.
Hopefully, we can get the numbers back up with the next few contests.
Would it be possible to get the banner back?
SCORES ARE UP AND THE NAMES OF THE SHOOPERS ARE NOW ABOVE THEIR SHOOPS IN THE OP
I combined the scores from Round 1 and Round 2 to come up with our final tally. The contest was anonymous. The Shoopers were revealed after the rounds were over.
Here are the final standings from the MS Paint V9 Shoop Contest:
01. @Arqueto - 34 votes + 27 votes = 61 votes
02. @kuf - 24 votes + 32 votes = 56 votes
03. @Myrddin Wild - 23 votes + 30 votes = 53 votes TIE
03. @MT7 - 22 votes + 31 votes = 53 votes TIE
04. @SenorFranko - 20 votes + 13 votes = 33 votes
05. @MrCoffee - 18 votes + 13 votes = 31 votes
06. @JohnMandick - 12 votes + 15 votes = 27 votes
07. @AleYeah - 10 + 15 votes = 25 votes
08. @Kowboy Karl - 11 votes + 13 votes = 24 votes
09. @Reach4theSky - 8 votes + 15 votes = 23 votes
10. @Otto! - 11 votes + 9 votes = 20 votes
11. @chill doggie - 18 votes
12. @Jon! - 8 votes
In first place we have @Arqueto in second place we have @kuf who produced two amazing shoops in both rounds and was the winner in this round, amazing job bud.
In third place, we have ourselves a tie, ladies and gentleman. we have @Myrddin Wild and @MT7 who both produced outstanding shoops in both rounds, and it really went down to the wire with the voting. When there is a tie in the podium places, we can do a couple of things. You guys can share third and split the third place prize, or we can have a good old-fashioned SHOOP OFF!!!
It's up to you guys what you would like to do but my vote would be for a good old-fashioned SHOOP OFF!!!
Let me know what you guys want to do.
Rounding out the top five from this years contest are @SenorFranko and @MrCoffee. Amazing job guys!
Just want to give a big thanks to everyone that puts their time and effort into the shoop scene: the shoopers, the donors, and of course the voters. The shoop scene has always been special, but without you guys, it wouldn't be anything.
Love all of you magnificent mofo's
R.I.P. @bigwaverider the GOAT
Congrats and thanks to everyone for the shoops, the voots, the bumps and the donations
I'd be lying if I said that I wouldn't love seeing an extra shoop-off to the death Georges! between two veterans
But ultimately, the choice lies with @MT7 @Myrddin Wild
(at least until @Arqueto 's lawyers figure out some airtight contracts that oblige us to shoop on command, as we should)
