Multiplat Monster Hunter Wilds "We Are So Back" Hype Thread

Loving the game so far. Hope everyone else is having fun.

PS5 performance mode is running fairly steady. How's everybody doing on PC? Over a million(wow!) concurrent players on Steam but less than 50% positive reviews due to performance issues.

Not worth the price but the touchpad art is nice; I'm guessing it's inspired by the wyvern mounts.

alright, i've decided that i can tolerate monsters carlos conditting their way across the map so i think i'm gonna stick with this.

broke down and bought the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition Digital Deluxe for $24.99 CAD off cdkeys.com which is way cheaper than i'd have to pay to get the game and the expansion off steam, so i figured it would be worth it just so i can actually play online and do all the tonnes of quests i'd be missing out on in the pirated copy because those activities are all gated behind online events so that's no-bueno for my copy.

but i'm starting to get the hang of it now. the dual blades are way more fun, fast and efficient then the greatsword starting off.

yeah i'm getting into it. at first having to chase some monsters down in the middle of a battle kinda pissed me off but i think i can deal with it now. haven't had too much trouble yet.

yeah i can see myself getting into these games. it's not over my head just yet. but god damn that barroth fight had me on the brink of defeat. there was a god damn final fantasy cactaur beside it and it unleashed its infamous 1000 needles attack on me and ktfo'd me. i couldn't help but to laugh as i wasn't expecting something like that to have been put into this game! it was gone by the time i went back for revenge though thank god.

I put hundreds is hours into Freedom Unite and Worlds/Iceborne, and I concluded that the Great Sword pissed me off by nature. I never liked Dual Blades, and used Sword and Shield when I had to move fast.

My go-tos were Lance/Gunlance and Heavy Bowgun, as in Freedom Unite, Tigrex and it's homing charge attack was damn near impossible to dodge and having a shield made the monster a moot point. It kind of screwed me over at the end of Iceborne though, when fast movement and damage checks became mandatory.

I'm holding off on Wilds for now. Paid full price on Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii and I'm not willing to pay for anymore games until I've rebuilt my finances after buying my own home.

How is Wilds so far?

Is that the sequel to Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii? Just messing with you lol

Grabbed my Steelbook tonight, going to wrap up Lies of P before I jump into this but I’m thinking I should finish this weekend. Can’t wait

Just now firing it up. Will only get a bit of time tonight but no plans for tomorrow other taking care of a few chores around the house and racking up some hours.

not gonna bother with wilds until they flesh it out more and optimize it for pc. but i'm having a good time with world so far.

playing again this morning farming the jyaratodus for mats to craft me my madness pangas and in one of my battles i beat the living shit out oof it and then it retreated to an area where there was a barroth just chilling and then the barroth gave the jyaratodus an RKO from the top rope and then the jyara limped and retreated back to its original spot to take a nap and then i flatlined it. that was fucking hilarious.

this game is fucking dope i can't believe it took me this long to to stumble into it. it's gonna take me a while to get around to wilds because there seems to be a whole lot of shit baked into this one.

i was also hunting some other monster in that map and in the middle of chasing after it i stumbled into a diablos. and it fucked me up in one shot. that was a rather harrowing experience. i don't think i'm supposed to be fighting that thing just yet.

Some really cool new monsters. Rey Dau is my fav fight so far. Such a cool design and i even managed to bring him out the sky with my first successful offset attack lol

Actually forgot how good Monster Hunter is, haven't played one since World the year of release, kicking myself that I never played Iceborne now.

Loving Wilds so far, totally addicted lol. Using the insect glaive with the bow as secondary.

Love just darting about in the air with the glaive it's epic.

Anyone else just slaughtering everything in like 5 to 6 minutes? Haven't carted a single time and just got to the third area and beat Rompopolo. Low rank seems to be super easy in this game. Wondering if it gets a lot harder with high rank.

Also, is anyone just skipping through the story? I find it really hard to listen to. It just sucks and I want to get to the action. I buy these games for the monster hunting and not much else. I think Rise did it the best of the last three. I recall being able to explore the locations fully very early in with a lot less hand holding.

the general consensus seems to be that wilds is the easiest of the bunch. some say a little too easy.

but to each their own i guess.

Wilds feels easier than MH World base game. I've just seen the credits and began the endgame and i've only carted once. Most fights were 5 - 10 minutes with some of the later monsters taking a bit longer.

I've only played World/Iceborne before this and my first playthrough of the base game challenged me more. I remember spending 40 minutes fighting Barroth, carting many times to various monsters and Nergigante being my wall monster.

In subsequent playthroughs of World i didn't struggle as much and beat the monsters in similar times to what i did in Wilds.

I'd say previous experience(1000+ hours in World for me) is certainly a factor in why i haven't had any problems playing Wilds so far and why it feels easier.

Would others say that their experience playing previous Monster Hunter games has helped them? Do those who haven't played Monster Hunter before just feel Wilds is an easy game?

Over all i'm enjoying Wilds a lot but it hasn't yet topped World for me.

Damn dude did you just have this game on the whole weekend? How are you already finished? You’re going to burnout in like a week from now and have it deleted from your storage lol. But yeah it’s considerably easier and it’s not just from experience. It really is easier. Smaller health pools, less damage to you, less aggressive imo. I think they just restructured the tiers to low rank essentially being easy , high rank to medium, and so forth. I think the updates and inevitable expansion will introduce the tough fights. Anyway I’m kind of glad it’s easy because I might be able to get the best items and put the game on hold for a while. A lot of stuff I’m looking forward to and Khazan First Berserker is out in 3 weeks so I’m hoping to beat this by then.

rathian was a bit of a pushover but rathalos was a cock. took me a few tries to get that one down as it kept getting enraged and stunning + poisoning me over and over when it was down to its last bit of health and it wouldn't land anywhere near me where i could hit it. it was a bit of bullshit right there. if you're not going to let me attack it you could at least let me move!

now i gotta take on that diablos. not looking forward to it after it handed my ass to me the first time i ran into one. i'm a little better geared now but i'm still probably gonna get it raw with no lube.

or not. diablos down. that wasn't so bad. payback is a bitch!

gotta say though, worlds ain't the easiest game. and i ain't even made it to iceborne yet. i gotta stay ahead on my gear for everything now.

farming a rathian for some mats and it goes to retreat to where the barroth was....the good ole barroth i didn't like that fucker during my first encounter and then a few days ago when i was farming a jyrotodus it retreated to where the barroth was and the barroth RKO'd it and i laughed like hell.

anyways this time the rathian and the barroth started having a turf war and i just go in there swinging away on the rathian while it's beating down on the barroth, and then suddenly in walks the jyrotodus well far away from it's regular grounds and then it started getting in on the action.

it turned into a god damn royal rumble! the barroth was gettiing attacked both ways by the jyrotodus and the rathian and i'm just beating down on the rathian while it was distracted by the chaos. it eventually limped outta there just for me to slay it in just a combo of hits.

most lol worthy monster hunter moment of mine so far. i would have literally shat my pants hysterically if stone cold steve austin's theme song would have hit as that jyrotodus walked into the fray, because i sure as hell didn't see that coming. i'm just glad a diablos didn't decide to show up for the rumble or shit would have hit the fan!

fighting rathalos again and this time rathian joined into battle and i had to fight them both. carved up his bitch right in front of him and then took him down. that had me on the edge of my seat.
