Multiplat Monster Hunter Wilds "We Are So Back" Hype Thread

Just played the demo quest. Really awesome experience so far.

Was using Hammer and beat the piss out of the first monster. Not a great indicator of the game's difficulty by any means but the feel of the combat is good. What i really liked was how much more loose the movement is when attacking. With some exceptions, combos in World would lock you in place and in one direction with limited to no movement whereas now you have much greater directional control for individual attacks during combos(Big Bang combo is still fairly stiff, though) and that's even without using the new melee aiming function. Power charge doesn't need to be double charged to use Big Bang Finisher anymore but you still need to power charge to rank 3 and the finisher itself has to be charged.

Once you've done the intro hunt you're free to explore the Windward Plains and take part in more hunts including teaming up with other players.

I had nothing to look forward to in gaming until playing this and it's nice to have that old feeling of excitement and anticipation for an upcoming game once more.

Hope everyone else has enjoyed the beta on PS and the same to Xbox/PC players for this weekend.

Tried the Playstation beta. While the game itself is fine, it looks like absolute dogshit in performance mode. The player character turns into a blurry pixelated mess while in motion and the shimmering took me back to ps3. The pro can't come fast enough.

Will try the pc version as well. Hopefully that one fares better.

This might be a game that doesn’t see a massive improvement with the pro to be honest. Capcom seems to be having problems with these ambitious open world games lately. Dragon dogma 2 has been out for a while now and still had perfomance issues from what I’ve heard. Sad to say but with the pro I’m just going for 1080 60 fos at this point lol. Not Sonys fault though for this one. I’m also going to be playing it on the pro too just not expecting a huge difference like rebirth

Can confirm the PC demo is amazing. I shouldn't have played it because now I have to wait four months

I'll never forget playing the one way back in 2005. I believe that was the first one. I had a blast with Echoes and RE4 on the GCN and hadn't been paying attention to Playstation. A roommate bought MH and we basically had parties every night. It's so neat to see the spirit has persisted even after all these years. I haven't played all of them but there are things even from the first game that are brought into the mainline series

Can't wait. But I have to

I'm afraid you are right. It's a shame Sony choose to not upgrade the cpu for the pro.

Tried the PC version as well and it's shits all over the ps5 version on my system (R5 7600x/4070S).

Tried most weapons and I was shocked the one I liked the most was the lance?! being a long time hammer bro and swag axe user, caught me off guard that the lance clicked with me.

Ever since Freedom Unite, the lance was the one that always clicked with me. I used the Paralysis Lance, Darkness.

Tigrex used to batter me without the shield. Couldn't roll out of that charge.

I was a bit disappointed overall by this beta. Performance was atrocious and the combat felt worse compared to both rise and world. It was floaty and lacked the impact that weapons had previously. Went from a preorder to wait what digital foundry has to say about the pro version

Apparently between patches and the Pro the game now runs better.

I’m going to pass. No save progression and it’s like two weeks from release. No point in playing it for me. I don’t touch demos anymore unless I can carry over. Time too valuable and I got a lot to play. Might make a character though since that transfers and it will save me time to get into the game launch day

Will this be different than Monster Hunter World where they just have different variants of basically the same monster just in a different color and aggression.
It was fun to play with random pros from Japan to take down beasts in quick fashion they would just carry me hard

Monster Hunter Wilds Framerate Mode on PS5 Pro (60 FPS)

Monster Hunter Wilds Ray Tracing Mode on PS5 Pro (30 FPS)

Also a balanced mode that combines ray tracing with 40 FPS
