MMA is a D-Level Sport

make knees to the head on the ground legal and watch wrestlers start getting KO'd left and right like PRIDE days
Make headbutts legal to compensate for that.

yes

we know

Pretty obvious. Especially when you consider these are d-level athletes competing in wrestling (a 'sport' so devoid of interest or talent it was nearly dropped from the olympics altogether) that come in and just dominate MMA.

stalling positions in american MMA often aren't stalling positions IRL because if you sprawl on a guy his skull is getting caved

Wrestlers destroyed guys in Pride when knees to the head of a grounded opponent were legal.

so they can suck at the olympics and dominate MMA. also a guy with less than 5 years training MMA can beat the best fighter in the world (MM). still a long way to go until this sport is remotely respectable

This is flawed though because wrestling is a martial art and it's the most dominant one for MMA.

Cejudo - wrestler, TJ - wrestler, Max - striker, Khabib - judo, Woodley - wrestler, Whittaker - striker, DC - wrestler....

The majority of the champs in the UFC have wrestling as their base.

If you had a plethora of baseball players entering the UFC and being dominant, this point would mean more.

some of them did

But go watch the events again

If a wrestler got sprawled on he got in a VERY bad situation

because olympic athletes are a dime a dozen right?

It's like Reebok $$$ doesn't attract better than D/F level talent for the most part.

The UFC pay model only allows for garbage talent and a few decent guys who have nothing else to do; ex wrasslers specifically.

Askren, Cejudo and DC are the fighters that make up those numbers.

Sometimes, like in those two fights. Most of the time wrestlers got destroyed by knees. I've been watching though all of the Pride events from the beginning recently and the vast majority of time wrestlers were paying for missed shots pretty badly. MMA rules changed a whole lot since 20 years ago, for the worst. They also have a cage now that strikers can't hold on to, but wrestlers can use to aid in a takedown and pin people against. Stomps mattered a lot as well. I had forgotten how watered down and garbage current MMA was until watching the older events.

And of course one of the biggest changes is in judging. I've seen guys get boxed up for 4 minutes, score a takedown for the last minute of the round, and win, even though they did no damage. In Pride, damage and attempting to finish a fight meant more than just laying on someone and taking a nap. In fact, if you tried that, you would get a yellow card. Unfortunately, these days that tactic is rewarded.

Actually well put and 100% truth.
MMA is still in it's infant years, deal with it.

It's a disgrace to olympic sport to be compared against saturday night brawling that being mma.

Explains why they get paid like D-level athletes.

Make knees to the head on the ground legal and watch wrestlers start to win loads of fights on the ground by knees to the top of the head from the north-south position,. Simultaneously watch MMA be banned because of a huge spike in severe concussions and spinal damage from those same knees to the top of the head from north-south position. It wouldn't have much affect on wrestlers takedowns, because the only people stopping top level wrestlers shots are other wrestlers.

However, if you really want to open it up and allow head butts watch wrestlers really take over, if allowed it'd be the number one source of wins in MMA. And would get MMA banned even quicker, as there'd be messy blood all over the cage after each fight.

The rules are in place to keep MMA from being banned. Knees to the head of a grounded opponent looks brutal even from side control, and worse from north-south. Allowing them would help wrestlers much more than it'd hurt them. And if you're complaining about artificial rules, then allow head-butts - it'd be perfect for wrestlers, and would end most stalling, simply because the head butts are amazingly effective at opening gashes along the eye-brows, shattering noses, and generally leading to TKO's because the receiver won't be able to see because of blood flowing into his eyes.
