so they can suck at the olympics and dominate MMA. also a guy with less than 5 years training MMA can beat the best fighter in the world (MM). still a long way to go until this sport is remotely respectable

So those wrestlers were better at fighting than wrestling?

In the olympics... people are "pretty good" for the most part. Starting out in MMA, you don't face only olympic medalists.

Did this ever occur to you?

That's mostly because of how overvalued the TDs are in MMA, taking an opponent down and keeping him there for a minute is pretty much eliminates what the other fighter did for 4 minutes in the eyes of most judges.

buddy it's not my problem if this is a D-Level sport. amateurs that struggled in the olympics can just completely dominate the sport. it just tells you enough

I can tell you sucked a lot of dicks to arrive at this solid, research-based conclusion. Kudos.

It's only a problem at LHW/HW, where most of the great athletes are playing basketball or football.

The smaller weight classes are fine in terms of talent.

It tells me that bloody good wrestlers are good at MMA.

    Am I missing something here?

    Cripes. "Suck at the Olympics?"

Anybody who's been to the Olympics is A+ level at what they do no matter how they do.

Hold on there, time baby. This is NOT the NHB fighting that I came into this "sport" by! John McCain put an ABRUPT stop to that form of combat entertainment!
    MMA/ UFC - 25 years old.
    NFL - 60 years old
    NBA - 75 years old
Modern Olympics - 125 years old
    MLB - 150 years old
    Boxing - 150 years old

Yes, MMA does indeed need to continue to grow!

make knees to the head on the ground legal and watch wrestlers start getting KO'd left and right like PRIDE days

stalling positions in american MMA often aren't stalling positions IRL because if you sprawl on a guy his skull is getting caved

is that if you can come from an A-Level sport you can easily dominate MMA. just like brock lesnar did and greg hardy will do too. even failed NFL rejects like mitrione and schaub did well in MMA, mitrione even KO'ed the HW GOAT

except the ufc is the olympics of the mma world.

perhaps we should ask what the USA olympic team members records were in non-olympic competition? This would be the proper comparator.
