Crime Maine shooting - 18 dead

No there’s just different kind of violence
Stabbings in the UK are off the chart- also in Europe but uk has a serious knife problem because of gun control and culture

It wasn't long ago that the UK had something like 4x as many violent crimes as the US per capita. I don't know what it is now, or if it has gone up or down.

It makes it easier to commit a crime when you have nothing to fear.

First actually enforce the gun laws we have. Also mass shootings are a very small number of the murders I the US.
The laws won’t change the shootings in Chicago this weekend, so that’s a no
“Assault weapons” are banned in Illinois but people are dying by the hundreds by people that don’t care about “laws”

I mean any ideas as to why this happens so often in the US and not other developed countries?

And nothing to lose
There’s a sub culture in major cities where you get clout or cred for being savage a f and people will do terrible things for something as fleeting and useless as that - that’s where “live streaming “ like those guys that ran over that old dude on his bike and laughed about it while facebooking it live
All the recent shooter have had live feeds - Nashville school shooting and a bunch of others

Take guns out of it for a minute and look at all of the other crazy shit happening. How many developed countries have numerous people get randomly thrown onto subway tracks every year?

We have a problem in the US that is deeper than just guns.

Yeah, but there is something else going on in the US.

There are 100's of videos of kids in the US getting the shit kicked out of them because of something that they said on social media. I am not seeing videos like this coming from other countries.
There’s a certain group of people who engage in that but I’m not saying who

For what?

Banning all semi automatics?

That's stupid and not going to happen. They are used for in large numbers of very different kinds for hunting and sports and self-defense.

I mean, at least make it very hard for people to get them legally. But you're right, it's not going to happen.

Because we have the constitution right to own them and along with that you will have misuse. I think we are one of the few counties with that and free speech.

As with all freedoms you will have misuse
You make laws to punish the misuse of these freedoms as long as it is within the constitution.

We have made plenty of gun laws that would cut down murders and unjustified use of a firearm if they were enforced. However the same people that scream for more gun control don't want to enforce the laws we have.

Why make it hard when only a very small number are missed used. We haven plenty of laws to control them now.

This is a 22. semi auto used for hunting small game a target shooting.

Violence is everywhere, it’s always been this way, this is just our time to live and witness our version of it
From Rome to the crusades to Ghengis Khan, there’s always been war, murder and tragedy- this is our time/2023
Take guns away and they will still find a way to kill ya
“Knife crime is a persistent problem in the United Kingdom. Between 2014 and 2020, the number of violent incidents involving knives or sharp objects rose year-on-year, with 2019/20 witnessing the largest number of police-recorded knife offences in the past decade”

Don’t ban them. Regulate them the same way fully autos are regulated

No not going to support that why would I when the overwhelming majority are not used in criminal ways but for legal purposes.

The whole "gun control" is about getting UK style gun control.

Do you have any idea how expensive and hard it is to get a auto legally.

Local laws don't work obviously because people can just drive a few miles to a neighboring state and buy whatever they want--they don't even need to be a resident.

National gun laws definitely work, I'm just not for them.

You can't buy any handgun from another state without going through a ffl holder.

Yes I do and that’s why I said what I said.
Of course it won’t happen.
