Gun control reminds me of the weight cutting debate, in both cases the people who have the least amount of knowledge on the subject tend to be the most outspoken and most confident that they have the answers.

I refer to this as the "we need to DO SOMETHING" phenomenon, in which people see a problem, want an easy solution and are too lazy to actually think the whole thing thru.


Disarming law abiding citizens is not going to help. This flawed idea is actually the foundation upon which all these mass shootings thrive, as the "gun free zones" become de facto "defenseless victim zones"

So first off I’m reading this dude was forced into a mental institution for two weeks saying he heard voices and wanted to shoot up a place in California?

2ndly this county had 4 total detectives and 12 total deputies. If he didn’t off himself which seems unlikely at this point he could literally be anywhere.

3rd this county was supposedly extremely well armed. This puts a huge dent in the argument civilians will help take out killers like this. I think it’s just too much to deal with at one time for 99.5% of people regardless of what training they have had.

Many households in Maine own guns, that doesn't mean everyone is walking out of their house strappin'. Most own guns for hunting.

In this particular time, we are told that any amount of murders by guns are acceptable as the price to be paid for 2nd amendment rights. So it figures that we will continue to dehumanize one another and accept killings as more and more routine and a part of the culture here, across the board.

I support amendments in laws allowing to carry weapons while I think that a lot of ppl are delusional dreamers how they might protect them from prepared attack.

Perhaps then the issue is that gun free zones are a half assed solution? It's kind of like slapping a bandaid on a gaping wound that's pouring out blood, then when the person dies you say, see! Medical care doesn't work!

So how does this fantasy work in your head?

Is the fantasy that only the government had guns?

How did that work in the various times authoritarian governments disarmed their citizens in the past?

Shall we ask the 100 million + people who were killed by their government in the 1900s? Oh wait, we can't, they're dead.

Mao, Stalin, Hitler and the like had a good old time flexing their power over their disarmed populations.

Quick question... in your fantasy, when the pen meets paper to repeal the 2nd amendment , do the half a billion or more guns that are already owned by the US population go poof?

Or...

Is the fantasy that it would be all sunshine and rainbows and everyone would live happily ever after if only government AND CRIMINALS, had guns?


Otherwise how many lives do you pretend you are saving by starting another civil war by attempting to disarm one hundred million plus people that don't subscribe to your fantasy? Do you factor that bloodshed into the equation or skip that part?
