Lets talk chimpanzees vs humans

Stop peddling this bro-science, brah.

This is a decent read, backed with research:

This beast, armed with razor sharp teeth which can tear you from limb to limb, is going to start biting your balls off, pulling off your ears, poking your eyes - the moment it gets its hands on you.

Chimp wins 19 times out of 20.

Professor Cigano, OUT.
that chimp has some fat nuts

This vid is pretty cool, about a somewhat intelligent Gorilla

Chimps have crazy grip/arm strength, humans might have more powerful legs but you cant really use your legs to tear flesh, break fingers and take out someones eyeballs, legs can be used for blunt force trauma but are less reliable in a close quarter all out melee fight with a chimpanzee. Chimps are fast, not human kinda fast but more like extreme quickness/explosiveness, like when you see dogs go apeshit and jump and bite a mans face before he can even react.

In a close quarter fight with chimp, the chimp would use his grip/hand strength you rip off your flesh, balls, eyes, fingers and it would do so in surprising speed and efficiency. I also think you are underestimating their level of co-ordination, they may have less fine control of their muscles than a human but a chimp can pick a branch several feet in the air and grab the exact spot he intended and pull himself.

Humans have used our intelligence to make and use tools for 1000s of years, we haven't been swinging from trees, getting into vicious hand to hand fights on a daily basis, living in jungles, etc. Physicality is what they do, mental prowess is what we do.

Chimps are extremely dangerous animals, and can cause an extreme amount of damage to any human in a short amount of time. IMO they have the advantage in a physical altercation.

You talk about this fantasy stuff as if they're facts but you don't show any evidence.

How about some studies that prove this alleged "flesh ripping" grip strength? It's easy to say oh they would just grap your tissue and rip it off. I don't believe that for one second, the video of the chimp attacking the guy shows that they don't have anywhere near that kind of herculean strength. It's just fueled by that idiotic "chimps are 15 times stronger than humans" MYTH.

And what vicious hand to hand fights? I've seen plenty of ape docu's, chimps almost never manage to hurt eachother and there is nothing impressive about their flailing uncoordinated arms.

They are too damn clumsy to have any sort of meaningful attack against a dangerous MMA fighter. What's it gonna do throw poop at the champ?

This is the most insane thing I've ever seen.

After laughing at previous posts in other threads I was already warmed up. This had me howling.

Fortunately I could show my missus this.

She was bemused.

It's actually the fakest propaganda piece I've seen. That fat guy could have very easily pulled that Orang Utan off the edge, he's so obviously pretending and faking it's embarrassing.

The ape has no leverage for this type of functional strength. Short puny legs with no core, it does not have leverage like a human built. a 10 year old athlete could beat an ape of that size in that type of comp.

This aint pull ups guys.

It was still a fucked up thing to watch however fake it may be.

Who thinks of these things?

Leopards eat Chimps and this guy killed a leopard with his bare hands.

Remember the average male human looks something like Jimmy Fallon, and not an MMA fighter.
The average male chimp would slaughter Jimmy and pull out his eyes and arms from their sockets.

I really thought that on an MMA forum people wouldn't be this clueless. We watch a sport that's an expertise on LEVERAGE. Where does leverage come from? The legs, the core. Not from your arms, which is essentially a chimp's only real strength location because their weak midget legs on their 3 to 4 foot frame is utterly useless.

Why aren't power lifters dominating MMA? Because that type of push and pull strength does not translate to fighting. Grappling is not about that and neither is striking.

Chimps are evolved to swing from trees, their bodies aren't suitable for either fighting or lifting heavy. This is an inferior species. I know that's politically incorrect but I don't care, humans are the superior Apes.

Chimps are strong. Not 10x human strong, of course, but strong. Also good luck teaching a chimp to fight under unified rules. It will make Jon Jones shy with it's eye-gouging and it will likely try to bite your tendons or neck arterias.
However, I don't see a chimp taking CroCops LHK or Roy's overhand right very well.

lmao at unified rules and a chimp

I will copy and paste my post from another thread:

Chimps are not 5 times, or 10 times or even 15 times stronger than humans, that is a known debunked myth, it spawned from a fake zoo story in the 20th century.

Secondly Chimps may look tough when they beat up old ladies like that one known story, but they've never been in a position where they tried to attack an MMA fighter. There is a video where a chimp goes on a rampage on a terrified, fleeing park ranger and it barely was able to pull the guy down. In fact the chimp looked weak as fuck and I would see an MMA fighter tear that ape a new one.

Essentially the only thing dangerous about chimps are it's teeth.

Here's the video. Does this look like an animal that's a jizzilion times stronger than humans? Does anybody have real, scientific studies showing this strength discrepancy? Not the BS story about a female chimp pulling 1000000lbs with one finger please.

That chimp slung him around like a bitch. I don't know what you're talking about. Chimps are strong as fuck and have huge fangs. I don't know where you read this shit about 15x stronger, but they are definitely stronger than us. You don't even know how hard that chimp was pulling by the way.

they have denser muscles than humans, which makes them poor swimmers.

I think I'd pick chimp via face bite & jugular bite.

Lol, you're so clueless. Btw, in that video that dude got serious inuries from that Chimp who wasn't even going all out attack. HIs hands and fingers were completely mangled and shattered, that was just from the chimp grabbing his hands and not letting go.

I used to know a guy like you, thought chimps were pussys and humans could defeat them in a fight, I found out most of his exposure to chimps were tv commercials where they show young chimps and females, this dude also thought dogs were one of the smartest animals, I stopped arguing with him for a while since I knew it was going nowhere. I worked with a guy who lived in Africa his whole life and has way more knowledge and experience with chimps than your average westerner, when I told him what my friend said about chimps he just laughed his ass off and told me that a chimp would tear a man apart.

Interesting story here. I'll pull a few of the highlights if anyone wants to read a long post.

A guy in the 1920s had a device where a "husky lad" could pull over 500 with both hands and most could not do 200 pounds with 1 hand. He had a chimp that was able to pull 1260 pounds with both hands and 1 that did 847 with 1 hand. What's more, the football players were free to use the dynamometer as they wished, while the chimpanzees had been forced to pull the apparatus from a clumsy posture in their cages. = Thus the 5 to 8 times as strong as humans myth arose

In 1943, Glen Finch of the Yale primate laboratory rigged an apparatus to test the arm strength of eight captive chimpanzees. An adult male chimp, he found, pulled about the same weight as an adult man. Once he'd corrected the measurement for their smaller body sizes, chimpanzees did turn out to be stronger than humans—but not by a factor of five or anything close to it.

Repeated tests in the 1960s confirmed this basic picture. A chimpanzee had, pound for pound, as much as twice the strength of a human when it came to pulling weights. The apes beat us in leg strength, too,

A chimpanzee's skeletal muscle has longer fibers than the human equivalent and can generate twice the work output over a wider range of motion.

Also from an ABC article

Indeed, chimpanzees have been shown to be about four times as strong as humans comparable in size, according to evolutionary biologist Alan Walker, formerly of Pennsylvania State University.

My conclusion

It's important to note the average male chimp is about 90 pounds. Based on this on the most recent tests I conclude that a 90 pound chimp fighting a 180 pound man would be about twice as strong as the man. However the chimp would be faster and has more natural killing tools like nails and teeth.

You'd get shooked if a chimp was yelling and growling and proceed to shit your pants let alone being able to defend yourself physically.

leopard looks to be about 50lbs , either a small female or a juvenile

Leopard attack - Wikipedia
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leopard_attack

Your flimsy extrapolation is flimsy

It is possible for humans to win a fight against a leopard, as in the case of a 56-year-old woman who killed an attacking leopard with a sickle and spade, and survived with heavy injuries,[13] and the case of a 73-year-old man in Kenya who fatally tore the tongue out of a leopard.

Also says that leopards sometimes prey on gorilla's who are massively overhyped round these parts, they're vegetarian muscle-bound pussies who don't kill anything.
