Leon has been getting a lot of hate

I never liked Belal but how Leon talked about him after going trough the same thing Leon did before getting the TS made me lost respect for Leon a lot.

He's obviously a good fighter but imo, he has been lucky. Both Belal and Sean showed that he can't handle a dog-fight and the two guys he defended against, Usman and Colby, known for being pressure wrestlers, just weren't there against him.
Colby was like you said, out of his prime and had an injury.
Usman was beating him until the KO and the trilogy was way too soon but even then, whenever Usman pressure Leon, guy had little idea what to do.

I would never say someone got lucky for having the success he had because i think for one there's no such thing as lucky punch or kick like his head kick. Luck do seem to play a large part though in some ways, but it's really fate that works in mysterious ways in our lives, including MMA.

I tip my hat to Leon for beating Usman and Colby, but in a way, one may say he was lucky, not sure if we should try to take credit away for dethroning usman while losing, but it may be the case that it was more the case of being in the right place and the right time more than the true reflection of his skills and strength.

That's really what sucks about being destroyed like that twice in a row, it makes that kick look more of a fluke than it may have appeared so before...

Leon was never elite. He had hands & could wrestle, but was nothing special. He caught Usman with a head kick & that was it. He's not top 5 WW ever or p4p top 10, or in any type of elite conversation.

He was a dick to Masvidal, interrupting his TV interview after an event where Masvidal had a KOTY contender highlight real starching of Darren Till and Leon had split decision with Gunnar

He was a dick to Belal, talking shit in the elevator and denying Belal a title shot after Leon had skull fucked Belals eye socket.

He was a dick to Brady, acting like Leom was going to blow him away and then getting completely rag dolled and still not giving just routine basic respect after the fight


You meet one asshole, maybe... you meet numerous assholes over and over, you are the asshole.

Trying to big league Belal was an awful look from him as was fighting colby, especially considering how the first fight with belal ended. he should have been more than willing, rather adamant, that he right that wrong against a fighter who hadn't lost since you last fought them.

He was this generations Rashad Evans. Always hated even though he didn’t seem like a bad guy, hated even if he’s fighting actual pos fighters. Insane bad luck getting title shot, former champion though gets no respect. It’s actually fascinating me how similar their careers were.

I wouldn't say he performed no differently in the 3rd Usman fight, he definitely had a lot more success stopping takedowns + getting back up and was landing more, also looked far less tired in late rounds.

When you factor in taxes, manager fees, coach fees, expenses, etc. i think you'd be surprised by how little he probably has left. I don't think all champs get the $$$ that fans think they do. Leon probably only made low 7 figures his last 2-3 fights, without factoring in taxes, fees and expenses. He won't ever be homeless or anything, but i highly doubt that he's set for life.

Usman was a diminished fighter by their 3rd fight. Heck, Usman was a diminished fighter in their second fight too and Leon was badly losing until the miracle KO.

Cuz in a million simulations, that may happen once. His grappling on paper may look impressive beating usman twice and colby once, but it wasn't so.

Usman wasn't the same in the second.

Also, I don't think i necessarily said it WAS a fluke, but that it makes it look MORE like a fluke.
