Law Judge Hannah Dugan arrested by FBI for allegedly helping undocumented immigrant 'evade arrest'

Personally, I don't think we should bend (and certainly not break) appropriate due process and procedure for _anyone_ regardless of the charge. Doesn't matter if it's a random pot head or a guy that strangles women in their sleep. The integrity of system itself is more important. "But we really want to" isn't an excuse to break the rules, but unfortunately a lot of reactionary America seems to not only want that, but expect it.

But now we getting into other issues - this particular incident only involved a warrant to pick the guy up.

To top it off the guy was already deported in the past and was in court for multiple battery charges. Not exactly the hill to die on.

Well I'm not dying on any hill, and this seems pretty cut and dry. It's also part of the broader effort of the current administration to concentrate power.

Yep

Hmm, I don't see where that argument is being made. Unless you say the "them" is court personnel, and then yeah, there have been cases where helping ICE can lead to civil rights violations. People need to be careful.

It's literally in the affidavit that the Justice Dept filed. They already admitted to it.

Yes, there is no magic door in the courtroom that leads to a secret exit.

And it does. That's also going to be easy to prove.

All of these arguments still apply, and it's not the defense that is shaky. You guys are laboring so hard to support another Trump administration wild goose chase. And it shows.

I'm asking this honestly, from a place of non-contempt... what makes you so confident in the legal record of the Trump administration when it comes to actual courtroom proceedings (where the court has to determine real facts and apply the actual law) that would make you give them any benefit of the doubt?

I don't have much faith in Trump or his administration, but this case sounds very similar to the other case that was posted - an alternate exit facilitated by the judge.

Again, I'm not cool with the way this admin is doing deportations, but judges can't be deciding to ignore/hinder enforcement.

That case was also dismissed...

You can speculate that Biden and Lord Soros ordered it quashed directly via secret decree, as you guys often do, but it's more likely that the prosecutors that were assigned to it were motivated to drop the case because they knew it was going to lose.

Trump loses procedural litigation more than 90% of the time, so he doesn't pick winning battles. He loses and then whines about the judges being "corrupt" and "unfair"

The prosecution (Biden’s DOJ) dropped that case after 2 courts had already ruled against motions to dismiss.

I'd say that it appears that at least some of time he's correct about liberal judges ruling against him based on appeals court rulings. But, Trump's DOJ was winning the procedural litigation in that other case before the prosecutors agreed to drop it in 2022.

It's likely that they didn't want to (or couldn't) produce evidence that the defense was requesting from Trump officials.

Surviving a motion to dismiss doesn't mean that the case is actually worth trying and will succeed. The Court of Appeal ruled on jurisdictional grounds because the defense could argue to dismiss the charges at trial instead of in a motion.

Lovely... You are aware of the charges she was presiding over that brought him to trial? Assault and Battery? Including beating a woman?

Then she protected him and let him escape out a back door. Are you fucking retarded? Why would you support the judges actions? Dude was a illegal immigrant and violent one at that. Why don't you house him in your mother's basement with you?

Several witnesses – including Dugan’s courtroom deputy and both the prosecutor and the Victim Witness Specialist on Flores-Ruiz’s case – allegedly recounted seeing Dugan then direct Flores-Ruiz and his attorney to leave through a “jury door,” which leads to a nonpublic area of the courthouse, court documents say.

Flores-Ruiz and his attorney quickly exited the courthouse before the agents were able to catch up to them, investigators say. Agents found Flores-Ruiz outside the courthouse and identified themselves. He took off running but was eventually captured.

This judge is fucked. Democrats have gotten so used to thumbing their nose at ICE and ignoring immigration laws that they believe they're above them. Nice to see these activist judges being held accountable. To bad they can't be arrested for continuously releasing repeat violent offenders.

Harboring -- Subsection 1324(a)(1)(A)(iii) makes it an offense for any person who -- knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation.

There was no reason not to proceed with the trial, but make the ICE agents wait until the conclusion to take him afterwards. It's fucking hilarious how Democrats take the side of the worst pieces of shit in society.

Also should be noted. This judge was a former CEO of Catholic Charities, a NGO that received millions from the Feds to assist with illegal immigrants.

lol... Wow, what a surprise.

Zero self awareness

You do realize these libs are the party in support of women beaters, right? They literally hate women and their rights, unless it has to do with killing babies

So many of them came out against Tulsi after she got nominated for director of intel. I don't recall them protesting when it was a white male. The misogyny was really blatant.

You literally support a rapist

lol... No he doesn't

ABC shelled out millions for that lie

Keep repeating it to yourself though... And click your red shoes together

Maybe it'll come true

lol...

@BFoe what do you think? Isnt the WI supreme court pretty left leaning?
We have a 4-3 majority. I don’t know what the vote was on this, but WI Supreme Court has done this before when a judge was accused of wrongdoing. They temporarily suspend the judge until the matter is resolved.
