Jones is right NOT to entertain Aspinal. Aspinal is overrated. Mid striking. He could be a flash in the pan.

Did people actually believe Alex would have a chance against bones ? Again, you may be excited for aspinal fight but bones and many others are no where excited for the fight. Dana going to Dana about the fight being the super fight of this generation!!!!! No Dana, that power slap promotion lingo ain't working lol
Anyone who knows Tom is excited about this fight. We all know Tom strikes faster and harder than Jones while being naturally bigger, also a grappling background. It is not even a matter of charisma or aura, it is a matter of pretty clear features that Tom has fighting wise.

He got heel hooked by a nobody. He hasn't been pass a couple rounds . We don't know how he's going to look if bones gets him down and gnp him. His grappling will get nullify by bones.

I'm not saying that aspinal doesn't deserve the fight. He is the number one contender, my argument is that if they don't offer enough money to bones , it's not a legacy fight or anything. He will just retire. If he doesn't fight aspinal it won't be that big of a deal. He's beaten the who's who.

Exactly, the interim champ is there for a reason.
Tom is the clear #1 contender by a mile and Jones should defend against him, but the interim title is there only because the UFC contractually needed a title fight for a PPV headliner.

If Pavlovich had won then lost the interim title to Volkov who lost it in turn to Gane, absolutely no one would be calling for Jones to defend against Gane.

Alex would've been a big underdog but yes had made a bigger "name" for himself than Aspinall obviously. Yes, "many others" wouldn't be excited for Jones/Aspinall. But guess what? "Many others" WOULD. Not just me. It would bring a massive gate and do huge ppv #'s relative to any other fight that's a possibility right now. That's what you apparently don't want to address?

Why not be honest with yourself? The reason the fight wouldn't happen isn't because it won't generate interest. It's not because Jones is bored and Tom is "just another guy to beat". The reason it may not happen is because Jones DOES realize the threat Aspinall is. And at this point in Jon's career, he may not want to fight a bigger, stronger, younger, faster guy that's been blasting everyone. And honestly, that's fine. Jones' legacy is set. If he wants to retire, he should! I'm not saying otherwise.

Did you really bring up a loss from a DECADE ago in his 4th pro fight like it would hold any actual relevance to a 2025 fight between Jones and him?

Dude...

Who said I don't want to addresses it ? The PPV wouldn't be nowhere near the highest buys. PPV has been dying and like I said , Dana pushing it as the biggest fight ever is laughable. I hope you ain't filling for it lol

Aspinal has mid striking he has power but his technique and head movement is a joke. He could literally get beat by many fighters. Prime DC would wreck him.

Why would the MMA GOAT Jones fight this upstart. I have zero hype when he fights.

Jones should go after the big fights or just retire
Hasn’t lost a round. You’re a casual

Dude...

Has bones been submitted? Bones has been fighting in the UFC since he was very young . It relevant when you brought up aspinal grappling. Jones didn't get submitted by a nobody in the UFC.. where aspinal was in a no name org.. does matter how long it was.

What the hell are you talking about? We aren't comparing it to all time, how is that relevant LMAO? Nobody is "falling for" anything. We are talking about NOW. Do you honestly think there's CURRENTLY bigger fights to be made that would do more ppv buys and generate more interest?

The irony is that you're the rube if you think people like me are swayed by Dana. I just understand the sport. I know what will generate interest. Will it be like Conor/Khabib? Of course not. Will it be bigger than anything else they can currently sell? Yep.

Sounds like someone who's never trained, let alone fought. Yes, it matters a TON when it happened.

I didn't bring up Aspinall's grappling for the record, but I will be the one who tells you a sub loss to a heel hook ten years ago on his 4th pro fight has little to no relevance. It's starting to feel like you don't understand this sport a fraction of as much as you think you do...

I'm actually a black belt under megaton . If you post in the grappling forums you would know lol

If that's true, it's even MORE ridiculous that you'd think a sub loss ten years ago in a guy's 4th pro fight holds relevance. Especially when it's to a heel hook where there can be a bit more panic than any other sub because of how quickly the ligaments get torn.

So what that tells me (again assuming it's true--and I have no reason to doubt you) that you do have plenty of grappling knowledge but are letting your emotions overrule the logical side of you.

I mean Aspinall could be a flash in the pan, but he’s right now’s flash in the pan, and Jones is nearing retirement.

Jones can’t wait another 4 years for some HW phenom to burst onto the scene, reach some level of mystique, and fight that guy. The odds are, at HW, that guy won’t even exist by the time Jones is 50.

He’s the champ right now, either he fights the top heavyweight of right now or he vacates his title and more than likely retires.

Not at all. All you have to ask yourself is .

Has jones been submitted in any of his fights?

Has jones fought better grapplers during his career ?

Has jones fought better competition than aspinal?

Have we seen Jones go through the fire and come out on top multiple times?

Very logical and not emotional.

No...that's idiotic. Fighters evolve differently. Some guys improve insane amounts, some don't. The level of decline is also different for everyone. Do you actually not understand this?

Jones pretty clearly was gifted a decision over Reyes. Should we judge Jon on that one performance, where he was made to look very average vs a guy who went on to get KO'd in his next few fights? Or do we realize that fight itself doesn't define Jones, just like a sub loss in his 4th pro fight doesn't define Aspinall.

I mean...it's amazing I actually have to point this out.

So you don't agree what I said is not true? Is that what your saying?

Jones has been submitted many times. You don't know anything about this sport do you? You think he just rocked up to a BJJ class and on day 1 as a little 18 year old white belt straight out of college wrestling and he submitted his black belt sensei? No just no.

He wasn't born with super sayan power levels. He's only human and just like Tom, he was once a very beatable fighter. Maybe it didn't happen on his pro mma record but that isn't really relevant. Both dudes have came a long way since then and it holds no weight on how they'd perform today. Tank Davis over in boxing just got pieced up a couple weeks ago by a dude he beat twice in the amateurs with ease.

Yawwwnnnn .

It's always the next guy lmao

Jones is a beast, and not to be underestimated by any means. That said, Aspinall knocks his dick in the dirt inside of 3 rounds.
