Jones stans who are Fedor haters refuse to acknowledge this simple fact. Fedor fought tougher opponents as a smaller fighter his entire career. Didn't lose a fight for 10 years spanning 32 fights.
Meanwhile Jones has taken 15 years to do 29 fights and only fought opponents his size 2x. One 1D striker and a geriatric

Jones should've went to heavyweight after the second DC fight (2017) or Gus (basically 2019). That was 10/11 defenses of the belt. No need to stick around any longer, go test yourself as "the GOAT".
He would've been 30-32 years old. But he didn't want any part of Stipe, Francis, Werdum, Hunt, Overeem and JDS.

Something like a dozen of Jones's opponents had either fought at heavyweight or would go on to fight at heavyweight later. Many of them cut more weight than he did. And Jones only fought "blown up middleweights" because he was going through LHW so quickly that there was no one else to put in front of him.

He very well may "accept a fight" with Aspinall to save face but I highly doubt he ever actually fights Tom.
He was hoping Alex would win vs Ankalaev. That was pretty clearly the fight he wanted, which he said on camera.
Now that Alex lost will be likely tied up with a rematch and his aura is tarnished, that fight doesn't make sense. I think Jon would have vacated the title and maybe claimed "Lineal HW" champ or badest man in the world, goat, etc.
Now his only option is Tom.

I'm perfectly fine with that. I'm positive Jones would destroy Aspinall, and that same night Sherdog will be full of all the "knew it all along" and "never that good" excuses that always happen every time Jones beats someone. You know, "He had never been tested on his back," "His cardio was always suspect," "He was too green," "He had never beaten anyone good," and so on and so forth.
