Jon Jones had an overrated legacy.

Not really. Jon himself provided the evidence that he was on steroids on multiple occasion and continually having trace amounts. There is no speculation about Jones and steroids.

I wont argue that, all i am saying is that likely over 90% of the fighters are/were on PED's (Diaz seems to claim everyone but he and his brothers were on it) and Jones was just leveling the playing field.

Lol. No he wouldn't have.
And just assuming everyone was clean but him is.... silly to say the least.

“my favorite fighter pops for juice twice a month so everyone is on steroids. My favorite fighter is simply the only one who gets caught.”

speculation > facts on sherdog lol

that would be acceptable if this was Pride. He’s one of the highest paid fighters on the roster. There’s no way he’s too dumb to cycle correctly or isn’t using the hardest gear to detect. How was he failing so much and no one else was? There’s no debate with Jon using PEDs. Everything else is mostly speculation

He caught a bunch of legends past their best days but still competent, and beat up a couple middleweights who were stepping up in weight, but you can't deny he got the dub against prime DC and Gus, and literally everyone else they put in front of him including a bunch of killers from the next generation. LHW/HW has never had the depth of the lighter divisions, but the guy beat everyone who was ranked high enough to earn a shot. I do think he is a cheater with a tainted legacy, and his troubles outside the cage are a tough look, but his dominance in the cage is pretty undeniable. I wouldn't really pick any LHW ever to beat him in a fight, and only a handful of heavyweights in their absolute prime.

Well thats my only valid argument. If my man Nate says it then it probably has some validity to it.

Do you have a source for Jon providing all of this 'evidence'?

I'm curious because I've never heard him doing such a thing.

Only knocks I can give him are for eye poking and roids but I believe most guys are on the juice (especially pre USADA). If we ignore those things he was very good. Height/reach doesn't = dominance.

He’s sort of underrated because of shit like this. He’s a genuinely disgusting person and a cheater, I won’t debate that, but in a sport historically littered with PEDs, he’s still visibly the best fighter we’ve seen to date. Especially when he was young. Depending on who you ask, he could be #1 or disqualified altogether, and neither is wrong. Ultimately, he only has himself to blame for tarnishing his legacy.
Completely agree, he was his own worst enemy and couldn’t live up to the two best examples of champions at the time (Silva and GSP) in terms of professionalism but in his prime I’d hesitate to pick any fighter at any weight class over him.

I agree.

Dude cheated in and out of the ring like crazy.

All the pride legends he fought were passed their best.

His best win was Machida or DC and he cheated against him (PEDs)

And when he finally should have lost, he got a gift decision and ran away from the sport.

A vet with a garbage post, this is normal on sherdog. Also when did he cheat with Machida and he fought DC more than once with DC having a suspect test. He threw DC around the ring and beat a double champion and former HW champion that no one could beat outside of Stipe. A man throwing around men twice as heavy as jones. We look at his failed tests but that is about it, in terms of PEDs.

The funny thing about those legends was no one was beating them until jones. You say they were passed their prime but even the young fighters were not dismantling those fighters. Dos Santos was having trouble with anyone with a decent wrestling background at HW.

Jons record is without question, he beat fighters who were dominating the LHW division. No one was beating them like jones and he dismantled Rua. The only fighter to make Rua quit in the ring.

What tarnishes his legacy was his extra curricular activities but outside of that jones record is legit. Unlike Khabib who fought cans for most of his career jones fought some of the best, it’s his PED that loses him some credit. But out of all the long reigning ufc champions jones has the best p4p record of them all and this is why he still is ranked on top, even with his issues and out of ufc antics.

What a perfect response.
