Media Jon Jones Back n Forth with Tom Aspinall Completely Dismissing Him - Tom Responds - Newest Update Jones Confirms WILL retire after Stipe fight

Yeah Jon ducked a guy on a 2 fight win streak..... bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
He is ducking him? He's basically saying that he doesn't think that he can win a fight with Aspinall because he's too old. I don't see the problem with it because he's about to retire but it's still ducking.

Not a great argument when Jonathan won his "undisputed title" against a guy on a 1 fight win streak and is now insisting on fighting a guy on a losing streak.

Compared to Ciryl and Stipe, Tom's win streak is looking like Floyd Mayweather's.

It's his choice and I'm fine with the fight but like I said many times, give Aspinall the belt. Stipe really should not even be ranked.. How long can you just sit out and still be ranked?

It’s funny seeing people making excuses for jones not to fight the current ‘interim HW champion’. It’s not a good look for a fighter to blatantly duck other fighters, and it’s just fuckin weird that fans of mma don’t want the best fights? Jones vs aspinall is a far better fight than a gift title shot to a retired middle aged fighter! No one can argue with that.

The reality is most that are excusing jones are more scared that their fighter will lose than seeing the best fights. That’s not a fight fan, it’s a fanboy

Bones fought DC twice, who is 10x any HW currently on the roster not named Jon Jones. But I'm supposed to believe he's terrified of Aspinall and knows he can't beat him?

Only on Sherdog would anyone actually believe that shit. It might have been at LHW, but Jon fought a list of LHW's who were infinitely more skilled than who's in the HW division now. I have nothing against Tom, but his resume's whatever to me. He's fought some of the best in the division but the division has been trash for a good while now. My prediction, Bones beats Stipe and Tom loses his next fight, which will be to Gane of all people.

While Jon hasn't proven himself at HW, he has cemented his legacy as P4P. That excludes weight and is far more impressive. Aspinall will never be considered a GOAT, the HW division's full of basically nobodies so he'll go down as a good fighter, but his record will be full of fighters most people don't remember. This is the division where not many years ago Derick Lewis got a title shot. I LOVE the Black Beast, he's fun as hell to watch but there's no way in hell he should have been that close to being the champ.

They'll always be someone new for the fanbase to call out Jon for not fighting, and although I hate the idea of him going out on a gimme fight against a washed 40+ year old Stipe, they'll never be a right time for him to call it quits.

I do absolutely believe that if they were to fight however, Aspinall would straight up murder him. No shade on Jones there though. I just think guys like Aspinall are the next evolution of MMA fighter that Jones was the prototype for.

It's very difficult to tell if you're kidding

I'm finding it difficult to tell if you are actually kidding. It is not hard to see that wildly irrational arguments are the accepted norm here particularly when it involves attempting to discredit the achievements of the most successful people in the industry. The motivation centers on a consistent theme to convince themselves people like Jon Jones are not really successful to equalize their feelings of inferiority.

These people continue to ignore the fact Francis stated himself he knew 2 out of the 3 fights of that contract he turned down were expected to be against Jones but that just wasn't what he wanted at that point in his career. Very much the same as what Jones is explaining to Aspinall.

You can't blame Aspinall for trying but he isn't any different than Gane, Gane very well could be better, but as we saw those guys just don't have any frame of reference to even be able to look competitive at all against the level of skill Jones has developed from his years fighting legend after legend at LHW.

To be fair outside Pavlovich, Aspinall hasn't beat anyone. All interim belts are bullshit and everyone knows it. He's beat 1 top contender. 1. He hasn't fought Gane, Almeida and the Blaydes fight was a total fucking dud. He could very well lose to all of them. He should get in there against one of the 3 I mentioned because he's not getting Jones or Miocic. It's stupid

I'm over all the drama. I just don't see Jon vs Stipe being a remotely interesting or entertaining fight. I hate monet fights. They're always intentionally one sided. I don't like that the division is held up for such a dumb fight

I get that. I also agree that this fight isnt that interesting. Not now anyway. This should have happened when Jon teased it a long time ago. I dont really think the division is being held up though. We all kinda know that both Jon and Stipe are going to retire after their fight. Tom has the interim title. Which, if Jon decides to retire, will become the real title. Whats being held up?
Im also curious about what some that are upset, want or expect. I get that Stipe should have never been a fight that was made for the title anyway. I get that and mostly agree. (I dont think that just because you hold a title, fun fights should be completely off the table. Its really no different than what Bisping did when he fought Dan.) As I have said before, Jon said that he for sure had 2 fights left. Francis and Stipe. Francis left so it changed to Gane and Stipe. Tom was nowhere in the picture. If anything. Jon should have fought Sergei Pavlovich. Tom is only being talked about right now with Jon because Jon got hurt and now his Stipe fight is delayed. So, is the thought that the UFC should strip Jon? Should they force him to fight Tom? If so, how is that fair to Stipe? He didnt do anything wrong. He was ready for the fight. Jon is the one that pulled out. And its not unheard of for the Interim to defend. Correct me if I am wrong as my memory on that situation is a little fuzzy. But didnt Nogueira try to defend his interim belt he got from Tim, against Frank. And thats how Frank got the interim title to go fight Brock at UFC 100 to unify the belts. So it wouldnt be completely unprecedented for Tom to defend his belt while waiting to see what Jon is going to do.

So you just made an irrelevant statement for no particular reason? K
I think it is relevant..... Pavlovich is a live, dangerous dog in the heavy weight division. Making what appeared to be a flippent comment about him losing to Overeem as a put down on him is cheap. Lots of fantastic fighters have lost before.
