Media Jon Jones Back n Forth with Tom Aspinall Completely Dismissing Him - Tom Responds - Newest Update Jones Confirms WILL retire after Stipe fight

I've never lost to Francis, either. In fact, he was never able to even land a punch on me.
Do you fight in the UFC? If you do then sure that's relevant if not, it isn;t.

In terms of Aspinall he has the current record for shortest finishing time and has finished all his fights in the first round(besides an injury) He is relatively young for a HW and has the potential to hang around for the next 3-5 years as a defending champion and maybe break the HW title defence record, simply by not being 40 years old when he got it.

To book Jones vs Stipe, only looks after Jones. What does the UFC owe the guy who has cancelled multiple PPVs via pulling out, hitting pregnant women or failing multiple PED tests? Once Stipe and Jones fight, they are both leaving. The division basically resets and now you have to build Aspinall anyway. Just do it now instead so we can see a HW title fight.

All that will be remembered is that Jones ducked Aspinall regardless of who he beats.

I mean I don't like it but I totally understand what Jones is doing. Stipe is the greatest HW of HIS era (not all time IMO - we know who that is) and just wants him on his resume as an icing on the cake for his run. If he did fight Aspinall and beat him, put would just say Apsinall wasn't that good just like Gane.

This is basically Jones pulling a GSP and getting a MW title on his resume to help his legacy in his own mind. Can't blame them both for being smart.

Im with this. The nice guy stuff needs to stop. Even GSP talked some shit when needed to. "Not impressed by your erfomanceee"
The only way he will manage to make this happen is by making Jones emotional enough to make an impulsive decision. Usually something as simple as calling another man a bitch will do it. Tom has a laundry list of shit to choose from, if he wants to get personal with Jones and get him angry, threaten his pride. Idk if Tom is that kind of dude, and I'd be fine with it if he didn't wanna be one. But there is a pretty likely way to get it done, he's just going to have to live with the fallout of being that person, if he goes down that path.

It's a fresh face without a loss to the vacating HW champ that left.

Jones beat the guy that Francis beat and is now fighting Stipe who last got Ko'd stiff by Francis.

Stipe was an amazing HW 3-5 years ago, but his last loss is also to Francis. He is 1-1 though, but people will always remember the KO even though I think Stipes win was much more impressive.

If you have Stipe and Tom fight, either Stipe has a current win against someone who looks good or Tom gets the win and gets a big name. Now you have an actual fight for Jones as opposed to him basically picking a guy coming back from borderline retirement, who last got destroyed by Francis.

The UFC actually either has the potential to build a star in Tom (with a win over Jones) or Jones goes out having a win over a defending HW champ as opposed to winning the belt by default. At this stage Jones legacy is an amazing early career, middle of his career marred by PEDs and not being active before finally going to HW to beat the guy who lost to the champ. From there he sat out and fought a part time fighter who basically retired and also lost to the champ. Jones legacy will be beating Francis's leftovers.

Or he could fight either Tom or Stipe coming off a good win and show he was the top guy in both weightclasses by beating the winner of that fight.

So essentially you're arguing a hype/PR angle, but a more punchy and satisfying one than Jones' proposed storyline of "I beat the greatest HW of the UFC, please don't look at the details."

I understand now, and as these things go I must admit yours is a very good concept and well worked out. I guess I didn't get it at first because I don't a wet slap about legacy and star-making.

So annoying how some of you are justifying Jones when he is visibly scared to fight Tom and is ducking him as a CHAMPION. Interim champ was always next in line for unification if he is not suffering from injury. I wish Tom instead of arguing would just straight out say that Jon is scared and end the discussion. The guy obviously was never going to fight Francis either. Also he uses twitter to manipulate fans and fighters into thinking that his behaviour is acceptable, when in reality its not, just put bunch of tweets with some irrelevant arguments to hide the fact that he is ducking.

Jones beat game who was the number 1 ranked heavyweight when Francis left, that confirms him as legit champ. If anyone has the right to pick a fight it's Jones.

Waiting for guy with Iceman in his av - he always comes and writing stupid apologetic shit about Pico.
Facts are not apologies, and If you are actually waiting on some one here that you cry too about something he does that is normal for a fan then you need a life. You need to get yourself a woman, a wife, and or a life. This is the problem with your ilk, your demeanor and attitude.

The truth is I just do not like you and that is one of the reasons I enjoy it as well. Including the other little bullies on here who like to be parasites. You even make up little names for your preoccupation and strange obsession like (Pico) and other childish rants, and it is quite sad. This is not normal behavior. Get yourself a mental health evaluation, I can do them for free if you need one. I feel that is the problem on here, which is a lack of an actual life outside of MMA and reality You begin to personalize fighters and their antics as a personal slight to you and your life, and you begin this downward slide of being in a odd and strange war with them. You are not in a war with the man, you are in a war with yourself. You have a life outside of this, go get one. You rporbably spend more time on here whinning about jones then looking for a job and bettering your life.

It's just basically what Jones would have gotten if Gane had beaten Francis and he had then beaten him.
Sure Aspinall lacks the resume, but you give him that Stipe win and it's enough for the Stipe fight. Or Stip wins and turns the clock back for one last fight vs Jones and it seems competitive.

The division keeps moving on and Jones can come back when he is ready. He isn;t going to rush back until he feels perfect. Any complications and he will happily wait out the entire year.

I just want to see people fight and titles get defended. It's gotten to the point where we are lucky to get 2 title fights a year in certain divisions.

I like how jon calls tom's belt an imaginary one that means nothing when he won his "real belt" off a guy that just lost to francis in his title fight.

And the "real title fight" is against another guy who got brutally KO'd by francis 3 years ago and hasn't fought since.

Quite pathetic. Hopefully Dustin and a few others retire too. This year doesn't look too good.

Not a Jones fan, but fighting and beating Aspinal is not gonna do him any good. Fans will discredit it and claim Aspinal wasn’t good to begin with.

Since when did Sherdoggers start defending fighters trying to justify NOT fighting somebody?

Also no, Jones is the champion, that alone means he doesn't have the right to pick his fights. He has to fight whoever the #1 contender is, and as the interim champion that is undoubtedly Tom Aspinall.

Jones has just a single win in the weightclass, he has no right to start picking and choosing opponents. Tom's HW resume for outstrips his own. Aspinall has finished 4 of the current top 10 in a combined 8 minutes. Jon has beaten Ciryl, and.... oh yeah that's literally it.

Jones hasn’t beaten anyone better than Pavlovich so his resume is worse tbh. Jones crushed cans in a weak divison. Waited years until frank left then fought a can in gane. Now he wants to fight a 44 year old instead of the interim champ lol. What a Mickey Mouse career..
Agreed. Jon's only legit win was against Machida who was a middleweight. All the Pride dudes came over with tons of mileage and were shot when they fought Jones

It'll be up to Dana and co. if Jon retires or not. They could offer him 15 million guaranteed to fight Tom and Jon would do it.

dam who would of thought, jones would be the one to do it.
I remember i was in college watching him fight for the title
and i was thinking its impressive hes made it to a title shot but
hes not ready to be champ, its rashads time. My best friend in HS was a die hard jones
fan since day 1. i know hes somewhere like a proud father. speaking of high school
fun fact did you know me and my bff were like the only few dudes that liked UFC ROFL.
most my peers thought it was some hillbilly back yard cock fighting tournament
, which to be fair they werent too far off
lol.
another fun fact
i was actually looking forward
to jones losing to shogun so my man at the time rashad got the title and
BAM we get rashad vs rampage 2
with another ultimate fighter. lol

A decade later here i am. STILL IN AWE. man how time flies.
<DCrying>LONG LIVE THE KING
