Joe NoBrain "I'm revising my thinking about this virus."

You seem intent on ignoring the larger point being made ...

You are intent on basing your "larger point" on literal horseshit with zero credible foundation. Why would anyone in their right mind NOT ignore the utter, utter nonsense you're spouting when with our own eyes, as well as with widely published data, we can see that home grown food is all around us?

Of all the things to be an elitist about, you chose gardening? More than a third of the population comes from a household with those skills. They literally teach it in elementary school. Just today I ate a chili pepper grown by my 8 year old niece! It was great! Not only is the wisdom of our grandparents not even close to lost, it's spreading, and it's the youngsters who are spreading it!

Yesterday I checked in on some elderly friends to see how they're handling the situation. They're one of three units down a shared driveway in an average suburb in a city of 1.5 million people. Every one of those units has their own vegetable garden. At least half of my Gen X friends who live in the city have gardens. The skills needed to grow food are beautiful skills, but they're also easy as fuck to learn and implement.

Open your eyes dude, you're just embarrassing both of us (you for sounding like an ignorant buffoon, me for having spent more than 3 minutes engaging with an ignorant buffoon).

I think you just have very bad reading comprehension

Much of what was said has went completely over your head.

Too caught up in minor details irrelevant to the larger scope of what is being said.

Critical thinking isnt your strong suit. Pity

Over 50% are overweight. its clear what i meant.

You're the lunatic who began by claiming only 0.01% of the population had any food growing skills to speak of, but suuuuuuuuure ... it's my fault for assuming you know how to communicate like an adult who has a command of Engllish.

And besides, I know overweight people who grow food just fine, AND they will lose that excess weight with the food shortage.

You're making my points for me now!

I have literally gotten dumber just by talking to you.

Can't really argue with a person who conveniently ignores a large majority of what you say

He's right though. The death rate is severely overblown anyway. They go by numbers of documented cases. Who gets documented? People with symptoms. Most people without or very minor symptoms are not being registered.

Even then, if you completely fuck up the economy it's not worth it. Some kind of balance has to be found between minimizing deaths and keeping the economy stable.

Ever seen what happens in countries like Venezuela or Russia when the economy collapses? You don't think that's something we need to prevent as much as spreading corona?

you do realize this thing just started spreading seriously in the US? its not close to being over yet
look at italy, been rampaging for over a month now

why save a failed economic system? capitalism is clearly a failure in situations like these - and situations like these seem to be unavoidable

You've provided zero proof of this claim.
Immediately reminded of this quote

For someone hovering at least 30 iq points below me on my worst day, you sure are a mouthy one.

Just like all the other manchildren from your generation, who have a hard time admitting they're wrong or theres things they may not be seeing.

You shit up the joint by starting posts with utterly unsubstantiated bogus claims which have less than zero basis in either observation or data, and yet you expect people to continue to read beyond those horseshit claims as if anything you say after them should be taken seriously?

Keep 'em comin' bro, you're on a roll!

you corrected a small error

One in that there has been a sort of mini revolution in urban homesteading.

Yet it changed little of my overall points made throughout this thread. In that majority of the populace is vastly less prepared than those who lived through previous collapses. And that these mini revolutions are still taking place within a minority of people

You attacking that one insignificant detail and ignoring the larger scope of whats been said is nothing more than a strawman. A shitty one at that.

Just because these things mini revolutions are taking place, doesn't mean they are amongst the majority of people. Particularly in the cities.

What about the other 65%?

What is the percentage of urban homesteading on the rise in densely populates metropolitan areas? How about new york for example?

Your anecdotal examples and this 35% figure, even if true, does not change the fact that the majority still lack these skills, knowledge, traditional wisdom and common sense. Which is where the issue lies

The mental gymnastics you do to distort reality to fit your strange confirmation bias is quite comical.

I been cool

But youve been a toxic little manchild who seems to have a hard time listening since the beginning.

Just like so many others from your stubborn, immature and unevolved generation.

I have yet to hear an actual intelligent response from you. A lot of beating around the bush

Your whole stance has been that If a great depression happens again, we'll be fine because they handled it just fine back then. I acknowledged that there are MANY factors in which society is vastly less prepared than they were during those times. You have been too busy attacking insignificant details and ignoring what's actually been said.

Imagine someone like you calling someone ignorant. You are WAY off and yet speak with such conviction as if there's no way you could be wrong.

Not surprised you believe you're a "champion of champions" profound ego with such little substance. An unfortunate combination

Well it's serious enough here in Singapore that the govt closed all entertainment venues till April 30th.

And we've supposedly are one of the countries doing the best.

Who said anything about it being close to over? I only said the death rate is exaggerated because of bias towards severe cases.

Which system is better than capitalism? Give prove please and prove that system would function better in an emergency situation.

Who said anything about it being close to over?.

cause you act like there wont be anymore deaths
death toll isnt final - mortality rates can and will go higher as time goes on

its already overtaken flu in italy

time to make up some new shit
capitalism has been taken over by conglomerates and crooked politicians

I said death rate. Not death toll. A rate is a percentage. The true death rate of the virus shouldn't change too much unless the virus mutates or we find a vaccine or something. The only reason for why we're finding different death rates is because we cannot be sure of the true death rate yet, so everything is either based on a guess or a biased number.

Yes, more people will die of corona, not disagreeing, but still not worth destroying an entire economy over. I have never seen anyone propose lock downs for the flu or any other disease for that matter. It's good to do it for a month or so, but after that, you're getting people into major financial trouble. Most people would rather get corona than be homeless.

Name the system? Socialism? Communism? Show me where that worked out.

Are you trying to make an argument?

If you have a ship that can carry 100 people without sinking, but there are 150 people. You'd just say, ah let's all sink. I'm saying, it sucks but 50 of you have to go.

You really don't understand that if the economy collapses, everything collapses and there will be way more deaths than corona would ever give us.
