Joaquin Buckley is the man to beat Belal

lol please stop, he got taken down and controlled by a washed up Colby with one foot out the door. I even picked Buckley to steamroll Colby and he looked flat out mid. No fundamentals in his striking or grappling whatsoever.

Buckley needs to stick to fighting wash ups, he gets outclassed anytime he fights someone in their prime.

his grappling looked really bad, belal lays on him for 5 rounds
I think a Colby from 5 years ago would've taken some punishment, but not as much, and won a UD (especially in a 5 rounder) tonight via his wrestling. He's not the same at age 36 and after that long layoff and Mas incident.

Here we go again. Buck just beat a washed Colby. That does NOT mean he has anything for Belal.
Maybe, but Belal is the same age as Colby (36). He hasn't taken as much damage (especially Colby's two 5-round wars with prime Usman) but he'll start showing his age soon. I just don't know when.

I don't know. He got taken down a few times by a slow and beaten up Covington tonight. Bilal would probably sub him easily.

By far the most reasonable port I’ve read on the topic. Colby is a social media personality now, he hasn’t been committed to MMA since his battles with Usman in their prime.

Even then Buckley didn’t dazzle in a layup fight, he got the result but he showed all the holes in his game that got him bounced out of MW.

Yeah, I posted this in another thread.

"Buckley looked good against a clearly past-prime Colby. Buckley has never gone more than 3 rounds, though. And he has that heavily-muscled physique like Hector Lombard, who didn't have great cardio after a couple of rounds. I'll be curious how he does in the championship rounds against someone like Belal, Shavkat, Garry or Edwards. Especially if he gets held down or against the cage for long periods."

He was sucking wind in that third round after getting controlled be Colby, his cardio is questionable.

Not to mention the massive holes that either got him knocked out or outgrappled at MW: sloppy footwork, irresponsibly lunges chin up into all his forward combos, constantly gives up position on the ground, and his guard is pedestrian at best.

He’s a novelty guy the UFC will ride until they match him with real competition.

I think his only real challenges left are Carlos Prates and Garry

He'd embarrass Belal, but that doesn't mean much as so do like 4 other people.

Buckley is a dangerous man. Not sure I'd favor him over Belal but he can definitely win this fight and it wouldn't be too much of a surprise.
