How many resources does it take to have the level of security you imagine - ie, 24/7 watch. It's immense. How long does it go for? Days? Weeks? Months?

A working camera would go a long way

Blaming trump is bullshit. Im not even saying that because i happen to be Republican. Prison staffing issues and been a problem for decades. To make it political now is an insult to anyone who works behind the gates.
My complex had 53 new hires in april. We have 6 of them left.
The hiring freeze did occur here, but some of the blame also falls on DeBlasio.

“The hiring freeze instituted by the Trump administration in 2017 directly led to staffing shortages throughout BOP that are so severe that BOP facilities across the nation are regularly using a process called ‘augmentation’ that allows teachers, nurses, clerical workers and other support staff to fill in for correctional officers,” said AFGE Council of Prison Locals President Eric Young in a statement.

“The low pay, understaffing, augmentation and mandatory overtime have created an environment inside our prisons where something like this is even possible. Despite all this, the administration continues, year after year, to put forth budget proposals that would further underfund BOP and exacerbate the strains we’re already seeing.”

One of the substitute guards watching over DeBlasio was a counselor and teacher. They're using whoever is available to fill in the roles.

I really, truly did not see the trump angle coming. I guess it all makes sense now.

Have you seen the ties between Barr's father and Epstien?

Or that Barr visited the MCC the day before Epstien's death.

I'm not saying I am buying it, but that is just as strange as Epstien's 70 million dollar gifted mansion painted like an Israeli flag.

What are your thoughts on how common it is to remove someone from suicide watch, that had just tried to kill themselves a few weeks prior?

Is that normal?

Also do you think it strange that this suicide happened within 24 hours after being removed from suicide watch, while also having his cell mate transfered?

I can't say its abnormal to take people off that quick, it happens. For him though, if staffing was that bad, the Feds could've done more. You're telling me there's no fbi agents etc would could've assisted?

Being absolute in one's anti-conspiracy rhetoric has replaced atheism as the new edgy pseudointellectualism.

This is an awesome post. So true.. some sort of strange pendulum swing grasp for individualism. Seems like mental slavery to me....

That's easier said than done. We simply do not have the staffing for one on ones. Especially in the federal system. I know, he was high profile but he shouldn't have been in MCC is the first place. There has to have been a better place, or at least outside agencies assisting in his custody.
I remember quite a few talking heads saying it was odd he was even there

I'm a C.O. if someone wants to die, they're going to. I've seen it. I know the officers didnt make rounds in this case. But, even if they do some inmates time them and know when to do it.
Bull shit.
The cameras malfunctioning
Overworked guards
One was a substitute?
Then both guards just suspended, and the Warden reassigned to another facility?
They let the most high profile prisoner die on their watch. They are complicit. This is a literal slap in the face of justice

Another thing to add. My facility in general doesn't put just any officers to watch high profile inmates.
No rookies, no people who are mentally weak, PEOPLE KNOWN TO COAST THOUGH THEIR DAY AND NOT MAKE ROUNDS!, etc.
Think about it, do you know how savvy of a person this guy most likely was. Guy could offer you millions to not make your rounds so he could kill himself.

This shit would never fly where i work.

Yeah, the news that one of the people watching his cell wasn't even a CO, might be one of the most out of place pieces of info we have been told.

If Epstien was murdered. Whoever that person was, should be suspect number 1.

What exactly is bullshit in what i said? Was i defending it, or justifying it.
I was explaining how someone could kill themselves in jail. I've personally cut bodies down.

https://nypost.com/2019/08/12/jeffrey-epstein-was-taken-off-suicide-watch-at-his-lawyers-request/

"Millionaire :eek::eek::eek:phile Jeffrey Epstein, who apparently killed himself while in federal custody in Manhattan, was taken off suicide watch in late July at the request of his attorneys, according to a report.

The disgraced money manager was found unresponsive in his single-inmate cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center early Saturday and was declared dead at NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital.

Epstein had been meeting with his attorneys for up to 12 hours a day before they requested that he be taken off suicide watch, sources familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal."

12 hours a day? Lucky sumuma

No. Just realize this is a Union head and the same media outlets continually wrong feeding it to you
So are you saying the jail was indeed not understaffed? And that non guards werent put in substitute roles as temporary guards? Because that is the issue here. Stop focusing so much on your Dear Leader's feelings and concern yourself with the facts. This jail did not have the funds to employ the appropriate amount of personnel.
