Izzy has to make one mistake and he won't just throw leg kicks and run against alex. Alex won't allow that. He pressured Izzy and we saw the results.
I don't expect it to be the same fight. I expect Izzy to duck the fight but if it does happen, I expect Izzy to shoot takedowns. I don't think he's ever done that in the UFC but he has done that in at least 1 mma fight I remember watching.
See, I think you're giving that 2nd Kickboxing fight too much relevance to be honest.
And yeh, we saw what happened when Alex pressured him. But again, it was kickboxing, which changes everything. Izzy was never running from Alex in that fight. He was right in there trading. They both were.
But there's absolutely nothing about the way Izzy has been fighting in MMA to suggest that he's going to fight Alex the same way he fought him in kickboxing. in fact, literally everything suggests the complete opposite and that Izzy will 100% kick and run.
I mean, keep in mind he wasn't willing to risk getting into a dangerous fire fight with Romero, Costa, Vettori, etc. and none of those guys are even half the striker Alex is. If he wasn't willing to take risks against them, he sure as fuck isn't going to take them against Alex, who has already shut his lights off before.
The other thing with Alex is that he really isn't a pressure fighter. He's a counter-striker. He's used to having the height and reach over opponents which makes that style perfect for him. His footwork is completely fine for that style as well, but he's never been amazing as a pressure fighter.
Even the speed of both guys has changed. Alex has slowed a bit and doesn't seem to have the same speed he had when he last fought Izzy. Meanwhile, Izzy looks a lot faster and snappier than he did. I think this is really just a result of the way they've taken their careers: after he KOd Izzy, Alex went on to have a lot of KOs. Power and landed that good, clean strike has obviously been a focus; meanwhile, you can clearly see that Izzy has focused a lot on just hitting fast, scoring a point, and getting away.
Again though, I do hope the UFC give Alex a favorable match up next and then a title shot. The narrative is there for that. I hope Alex can make it a fun fight and get the KO, but nothing I've seen out of the two suggests we'll get anything similar to the last kickboxing fight instead of a boring decision win for Izzy.
