Izzy will retire as soon as Alex gets close to a Ts

lol, he lost 90% of those 2 fights. Watch them.

Gifted a judges decision. Then Izzy is winning again... and thinks do I want to leave this to the judges?

History is made and Alex moves from a no name kick boxer who would barely register, to the next great hope for insecure Adesanya haters

yeah that's izzys narrative. actually, he was backing up after a blocked high kick in the third, alex moved forward, izzy threw a cross that alex slipped and then alex one punched kod him so bad, there was no count and izzy needed oxygen.

also, izzy never fought kickboxing again after that.

but yeah, he was winning till he lost

Are you Alex's manager or 2nd cousin? He got taken down rather easily by a smaller bjj guy turned kickboxer. Even striking wise Alex couldn't finish a lesser striker. This is suppose to be his showcase fight. If anything Bruno Silva's stock went up as an underrated striker.

he got taken down by a bjj black belt from brazil who couldn't finish him. he took some shots that didnt faze him. he almost kod silva also. it wasn't a bad showing at all

Brunson would run through Alex and a older lesser version of izzy ran through Brunson...

Nothing what he showed last night told me he was ready for Izzy yet. Striking in MMA is different and takes time to get used too and truly comfortable with. Last night was a good experience for Alex, and I hope he makes it to Izzy before age puts an end to it. But yeah he's not ready to fight the elite of MMA yet.

Bruno Silva is a solid fighter, I thought he had a realistic chance at an upset tonight. He’s not a “no-name”.

Pereira matches up decently against Izzy(I’d still favor the latter). The problem is that they’re never going to fight. There’s no way he goes through Vettori or any other wrestler in the division, he’ll get taken down and won’t be able to get up.
If the UFC gives Alex the Conor/Borz treatment he won’t have to fight Vettori, or any wrestler. At this point it’s up to the UFC and how they want to deal with Alex. If they want this title fight, they can do their best to make sure it happens.

He is 34 lol

and has problems with his striking that don't exist under K1/Glory rules

His mma striking defense isn't great as he is used to shelling behind gloves

Izzy isn't going to be running from Alex. He's going to be running from Chimaev.

Come on bro. You are being a Baghdad Bob. At least be honest with Alex's performance. He really has to work on several things and even his strongest aspect of his game which is striking isn't that effective with small gloves. If Alex makes improvements in his game then I will be glad to eat crow. I really don't see him getting far in this division.

Izzy a guy, Izzy a girl?

Chill tf out everyone. Bruno Silva's good enough to be ranked in all likelihood, and I think Alex could've gotten him out of there in the 3rd if he really pressed it. Were you all really expecting him to come to the UFC, sleep everyone, and never take a punch?
.

not everyone can be Lord Khamzat

What you saw yesterday was Pereira respecting the very real knockout threat his opponent posed while also being cognizant of the takedown threat. Bruno Silva had won seventeen of his previous eighteen fights; fifteen of those by knockout. Adesanya has never faced a knockout artist the caliber of Bruno Silva in his MMA career.

Pereira is not Adesanya or Ngannou 2.0 which is what most fans seem to have expected. The guy is a methodical technical striker with a lot of power. That is why he is the most decorated MW in the history of kickboxing. He has his own style and is going to always fight intelligently and to win above all else.

Pereira is a better technical striker with significantly more power than Adesanya. He does not have the footwork or showmanship of Adesanya, no MW does, but dont get it twisted he has adapted his kickboxing game to MMA quite smoothly and looks like a future champion if he continues to develop.

The likelihood of him making it to a title shot the old fashioned way seems pretty low tbh. They'd have to fast track him and give him a stylistically easy route.

Hes fun to watch though. I was impressed with Bruno and how he took the fight to Alex standing too.

So you mean if he gets the same treatment as Adesanya?

<45>

He is going to get the same favorable treatment Adesanya received. Adesanya fought the then #8 ranked MW in his third UFC fight no reason why Pereira should not also fight a striker in that range.

After watching that performance what makes you think he even comes close to a TS ? He was not impressive, he barely beat Silva who was totally gassed.

What? Izzy had to go 5-0 and beat Brunson and Vettori before he got an (interim) title shot. Those two would most likely wrestlefuck Pereira.

Saki was also at the end of his career and it's not like he fought Rountree in kb and knocked him out so bad he needed oxygen before they met in the UFC. These are totally different circumstances

Saki was 34 for his last fight. Alex is 34 now. Let's not pretend like Alex is going to be doing MMA for years and years at this point.

Alex knocking Izzy out in kickboxing doesn't mean he will easily do the same in MMA. Izzy quit kickboxing after that KO and has done nothing but MMA since. He's adapted his style to MMA in a way that Alex hasn't yet.

Ask yourself this: Alex beat Bruno, but he was getting hit pretty well by sloppy shots himself. Can you imagine Izzy getting hit by Bruno? Can you imagine Izzy even being in range for some of those sloppy shots when he's fought far better strikers who could barely touch him?

I've watched Alex in kickboxing for years and I've always been a fan. I'd love to see him KO Izzy, but with the way they've developed up until this current point, I don't really see Alex being able to do much.

Actually if I'm izzy i would be confident that I could beat pereira after that last performance. Could be even a good last fight for him, finally beating the guy that hes 0-2 against.

Alex Pereira for sure needs more time in the MMA game, but he has the tools to do it again. He's prolly past his prime by now, though. Maybe.

Don't get me wrong though, nothing would make me happier than seeing izzy flatlined on the ground again. I'm just being realistic.
