I am 100% confident that Islam would have finished Belal last night.Bro was crossing his fingers that Belal would lose
This solely depends if Islam can take JDM down and keep him there. If BeLOL couldn't, what makes you think a smaller Islam can?JDM would be an easier fight for Mak than Topuria. Sloppy scrambler and clueless off his back.
Easy double champ path right there.
I used to wonder why they were so hardcore about never allowing that lolI know I am an old fogey and totally out of touch, but I just loved how it used to be where there was none of this silly double champ so called ''superfight'' nonsense, and all the champions defended their belts against the number 1 contenders time after time after time, just like GSP, Anderson, Mighty Mouse etc etc would, its just so much more interesting to me.
The belts get passed around like confetti these days and no one can get any consistency and there are so much interim champs the last 10 years, for me it just gets really silly and comical. I know I'm old fashioned though and probably living in a bygone era![]()
Islam is a way better grappler/fighter in general than BelalThis solely depends if Islam can take JDM down and keep him there. If BeLOL couldn't, what makes you think a smaller Islam can?
I don't disagree, but size matters.Islam is a way better grappler/fighter in general than Belal
Yeah it was so much better before, Conor started this double champ superfight nonsense and its got totally out of control now. Its ruined lots of the divisions.I used to wonder why they were so hardcore about never allowing that lol
Man do I miss the philosophy on matchmaking they had before WME, it was so much better
The philosophy now is how can we make the most amount of money the next fight… which often hurts everything long term, which is why they’re so cold right now
Yeah I mean, I’m not saying it’s a foregone conclusion Islam takes him down at will, but Belal not being able to do it doesn’t make me think Islam can’tI don't disagree, but size matters.
Yeah exactly and it takes these guys so long to even get to a title shot because when you only think short term money you’re always gonna favor the already established names, which doesn’t allow the next guy to build a name… GSP, Aldo, Jones etc. all got to a title waaaay before they would be able to todayYeah it was so much better before, Conor started this double champ superfight nonsense and its got totally out of control now. Its ruined lots of the divisions.
I really think UFC is lacking long reigning champions who defend the belt against all the number 1 contenders in their divisions, thats how you build that "aura" and become a star.
See like for example Anderson had 16 UFC MW title fights, but lets pretend he only had 1 title defense and then he called for a double champ "superfight" at LHW and lets say he lost to Jones, would Anderson have had that aura? would he have been the star he was?, everyone thought that he was like a God and he couldn't even be touched by anyone, and there was so much build up every time he fought with everyone saying "could this be the guy to finally beat the great Anderson?" , thats what long reigning champions do.. they build that aura and become a star and you feel like no one can beat them. But these days it’s all a flash in the pan, it’s sad.
Yes, I think he drops if it he's wins. Only reason to keep it is so the UFC can short term advertise it as a champ vs champ fight, and it offers him the option to just go back to LW if he loses since he'd still be the champion.Whatever. He better drop the LW belt if he wins. Don't want to deal with that shit again
