Opinion Is X Basically A Gore Site Now?

I left after the Austin mall massacre.
I opened twitter, and my feed was nothing but pictures of people that had been murdered.
No graphic content warnings, no NSFW tags, nothing. Just pictures of people that had been blown away.
I don’t want to see that shit.

I haven't been using X for long but I haven't seen any gore, although I don't mind that kind of content and you'd think my activity on the site would quickly lead me to gore. I followed a few accounts that have death/accident videos, some cartel related accounts, some Ukraine War related accounts, but I'm not seeing anything like the kind of gore I see elsewhere. X seems kind of tame tbh. I tried Bluesky as well and I get shitloads of pron, and lots of fetish pron where it's like cartoons of super fat animals with stretched out assholes which isn't even my thing. Seems to be dominated by furries, not surprising I guess

It's been like that for years, IG is just as bad there's an actual trend of showing murders on IG currently.

Personally if it's recent news I see no issue with it, but the showing murders just for clicks I'm not a fan of.

Really? I remember posting that powerful photo in memory of the person that lost their life during 9/11 on IG. It wasn’t gore but my account got locked down within seconds.

It matters a lot what you follow. I follow art galleries, art accounts,europrofessors, euro political commentators, news pages like Reuters or bloomers, and I never get weird links. I do however get them on Instagram, where I have 2 posts in 6 years, and in the recommended section I've seen clips of people shot in the head, onlyfans hoes plenty, horoscope and self improvement bullshit.

It's just barely moderated now. You get an absolute tonne of porn on there too now. If I'm using it at work I've had to switch my feed to just accounts I follow as the normal feed just throws anything at you. It's not even like using Reddit where it'll at least throw stuff at you from communities you read, it just seems to be a complete free for all.
