Is the JDM hypetrain dead?

Sean Brady likely would have folded mentally like he did against Belal. Longer more athletic fighters might make him freeze. This guy JDM just fought was a dog mentality
Not from what I've seen, Belal is just really good, don't think Sean froze there brother

He would have finished that fight if he didn't jump guillotine a bunch of times and engaged in so much grappling. People saying the other guy won must love Jon Fitch because Jack was beating his ass for most of round two and then got laid on for one minute

His TDD and cardio is getting exposed tonight

Not sure, he clearly destroyed him on the feet and his TDD was actually pretty good in that fight. His bigger problem was once down he struggled to get back up. This certainly slows down the hype train, but it was a good learning experience for him. It is the kind of fight that will make him better.

Remember it was short notice fight and he didn't have long to prepare considering the week before the fight the focus is on staying healthy and making weight.

Unfortunately it seems his grappling kind of stinks and that's a death sentence at WW
I would say Sean Brady would've beat him easily but he got chinned by Belal and was getting lit up by Chiesa so chin might not be the best
I view JDM as a fun action fighter more than an up and coming prospect for now

I think the other guy is just good.
He literally could only wrestle
JDM was gift wrapping him great positions with his trash guillotine attempts and the guy did absolutely nothing but hold him down
If he had any type of ground attack he wins that fight going away

Not derailed by any means but there is clear concerns. Unlike Ganes rise to contention, JDM doesn’t have the luxury of fighting just strikers anymore as WW is filled with top
Tier grapplers. He really needs to not only drill the TDD but also work on his choice making. Surely after 1 attempt at a choke you don’t rerun that same choke like 4 more times.. especially when you’re drilling the other guy standing. Jacks 26. He just cut big weight twice in 7 days so to say he’s unable to contend seems quite silly. Miocic lost to Struve and looked like he lacked power, Belal looked like a B tier fighter and has now turned into a potential champion. We just have to watch and see how everything goes with Jack, his issue could be that now he’s 5-0 and it’s only the top tier guys left to compete with

Great win for JDM, made mistakes that nearly had him losing the second but still managed to win and rock the guy in the 3rd

There was a time when Jack had the back, literally had a perfect armbar set up, stayed on the back instead and then got rolled over

He's fine. I'm sure his cardio suffered from having to stay at weight for 2 weeks straight. I thought it was dumb of him to take a fight that had no upside for him in the first place.

No, hes not. Dudes 8-4-1 and nothing he did looked very impressive. Hafez has literally lost to cans not that long ago.

Lol at people who are acting like Hafez is an unknown gem, who is better than his record... <36>

JDM clearly won that fight. He also cut weight twice in two weeks and we've seen what that does to a fighter in Ferguson in the past. It's also a mixture of expectations, reactionary takes and exaggerations which usually create moments like this.

Yes, he needed to listen to his corner and make better decisions. Yes, he shouldn't have gone for those guillotines after the takedowns and instead tried to get right back up. Maybe he was pressing due to the situation. Maybe he was being reckless trying to finish. He's got room to grow and things to work on.

JDM wasn't even ranked top ten, yet everyone is talking as if he was supposed to be the second coming when he was still needing to prove himself against top competition as they tear him down. Is normal. Is stupid.
