Is Dana stacking 299 to counter program Ngannou's next fight?

I can't help but notice that immediately after Ngannou vs Anthony Joshua was announced, Dana comes out and announced 2 major fights, Poirier vs Saint-Denis being scheduled for the same weekend as Ngannou vs Joshua.

He did the exact same thing when Ngannou vs Fury was announced. Do you think it is coincidence or related?
it is related

Oh I agree, but… it’s all we got. C’mon @nostradumbass .. keep shilling. Frank is not a draw….. neither was GGG, neither was Crawford. …. But they still need/deserve showcasing. They are or were, the best at times.
<FookIsThatGuy>

Terrence Crawford and GGG were undefeated champs with like 40 fights. Crawford is still 40-0, and GGG had a robbery draw but didn't take his first loss till his 40th fight, and his Canelo fights did well over a million PPVs. Francis hasn't won a single boxing bout.

Most sane people think it's nice for Francis to get a bunch of money he didn't necessarily earn by either building up a boxing resume or selling tickets/PPVs, but for some reason you have an emotional need to pretend the UFC is missing out on something when the Saudis are losing tens of millions, and the PFL are left with their dick in their hand and wont' get a single fight out of him.

You do realize PPV buys count the amount of people who bought, AKA watched, the fight right? Not the money generated? 1 buy = at least 1 person.

The price per buy and therefore how much was generated in revenue by it is a completely separate thing. This thread is about people *watching* the events.

So yes, having the higher buy rate would be beating them.
you do realize the amount of people that watched the fury/ngannou fight via different broadcast channel worldwide ? Let's say the last jones fight vs fury/ngannou and guess which one was the most viewed on the planet ? Not even comparable.

I’m not sure how sticking with the higher paying gig somehow makes Franc disingenuous. His goal was always to box, and he’s been up front about that from the beginning. I don’t see how fighting nobody’s in the PFL is somehow a more noble pursuit. If his contract with them is structured so that he doesn’t have to fight MMA, than shame on them for inking the deal. Franc could die tomorrow and he would have already accomplished a lot for fighter advocacy by simply standing up to Dana and highlighting how oppressive and unreasonable UFC contracts are.
He‘s disingenuous because he blamed the UFC for their fallout rather than just acknowledging that he just wants to box. He then used the PFL to leverage his position and get the fights he wanted all along. All he had to do was be honest about it but instead he decided to play the victim which he never was. So yeah my dislike is justified regardless how anyone on here feels.

The guy has done exactly what he has always said he would do: become a MMA a champ then go for boxing. He completed his UFC contract, left and signed a deal that allows him to box. Then he boxed.

Where is the lie?
It’s there in plain sight as I’ve explained over and over. I get that there’s a lot of anti Dana sherdoggers and since Ngannou showed him, which he actually didn’t which I’ve also explained already, so a lot of people on here love him. I’m totally fine with that but it doesn’t make anyone on here correct. Just biased and unaware of it apparently.

And yet…he has another high level boxing match…. Can’t wait for the …’well, it’s Saudi money…’ argument. Like Ngannou or Dana cares…it’s good, healthy competition.
Yep and it won’t make a dime either which proves Dana correct and shows how generous their offer to him actually was.

The main reason for stacking the card is to put eyes on O' Malley in hopes of making him a star. I think the Poirier fight was certainly thrown together to counter Francis. The card certainly didn't need it but it gave them something to announce for the same weekend only a few days after the boxing announcement. The main aim is to take attention off Francis and keep the MMA news cycle on UFC.

You're right.

Jones vs Gane drew an absolute fuck ton more viewers than Fury/Ngannou.

I wouldn't put it past him, but there is nothing the pink goof could do to negatively affect this fight. Ngannou gets paid no matter how many people pay to see the fight. The saudis have trillions of dollars, they don't give AF if anyone pays to buy the PPV or pays to watch live. They own the arena. Even If the production cost $50M, that's not even pennies to them. I look at these fights as the equivalent of mark cuban hiring coldplay to perform at his daughter's wedding. They have the money and want to do something big for the entertainment of it all.

I don’t know brother. All I can say is that I listened to his interview with Ariel and judged this whole situation based on Franc’s own words. Did you hear Franc out
and listen to the interview? He asked for a 3 fight deal with a clean break. Sounds reasonable. Hunter Campbell and Dana weren’t having it. Franc graciously kept it vague, but their offer was something absurd. Franc would need to sign for something like 6+ fights, and if he lost the belt, he’d go back to making 100-200k per fight. As if that wasn’t restrictive enough, there was also a time constraint on the contract, so if he fought out his contract before X years was up, he’d still need to wait before he could box. Only a blind hater would think that these terms are reasonable. Of course Franc countered with the other stuff (unions, health insurance, etc) He knew they wouldn’t bite, but he tested the waters anyway just to gage how much they valued him. Turns out, he was right.

“Used the PFL”? I’m sorry, but what exactly did Franc get from the PFL? They threw him some cash for the privelege of saying that they have a UFC champ on their roster. Franc may never fight in the PFL, but who gives a shit? Do you even watch their cards? This was just PFL waging petty war on the UFC. Anything to bolster their nonsensical claim as a “co-leader” in MMA.

Franc damn sure ain’t a victim. He set out with a dream and achieved it despite the world telling him he was wrong and “fumbled the bag”. I’m sorry my dude, but your claims aren’t really justifiable in light of the facts. It would appear that you’re just a Franc hater.

He could have a PPV with 5 title fights on it and it still wouldn't matter because Francis gets a giant pay cheque regardless.

It's hilarious that these people still can't grasp the fact that the Saudis literally couldn't care less about making a profit and Francis pay is guaranteed, shitty ppv or not.

Honest about boxing? He said years ago that he wants to be able to box lol.

Not sure if you're serious or not...you do realize football (real football) gets billions more views than the with little to no ppvs ? guess which one is more popular, more profitable, gets more media coverage ? Not to overestimate and make an ngannou/fury/joshua fight bigger than it is but you see the point. In no world jones/gane gets more attention, more media coverage, more views and you know it.
