Ilia beating Paddy does nothing for his career in fact his career will regress

Ilia knows this fully well that Paddy does nothing for his career until paddy gets legit wins in his column. Paddy has beaten old legends thats basically it and has not fought someone in his prime since Gordon.

The only worthy fight for him at lightweight is Arman. I think this will be his last fight at lightweight before moving up to face Mackhachev
Paddy is a waaaay bigger fight than Arman in terms of fan interest.

Paddy's riding high right now after surprising everyone with how dangerous he looked against Chandler and having such a big following.

Your casual fan has no idea who Arman is.

The only names in the division are long-aged vets that are bordering retirement. That does less for his legacy than beating an up-and-comer who hasn't lost in the UFC and looks better each time out.
I dunno Stipe made his career beating battle worn Vets into retirement. It can work.

And I that's why I have trouble with him being called the UFC heavyweight GOAT.

This is a thread. TS made it. So, there's always that.

Which UFC HW did it better?
Cain and Cigano, off the top of my head. We talk about Stipe's defense record, but it was split in half by a knockout loss and then he didn't really have any defenses that were awe-inspiring and dominant other than the Ngannou fight.

Is he way bigger than Max Holloway and ready to fight an elite fighter? If so, it sure seems strange that the UFC never tried to book him for Poirier's retirement fight.

I think his bank account disagrees that he will "regress" by beating up Paddy

I think there are tougher fights, but his career isn't going to regress by destroying this guy lol

Paddy is on of the most popular names on the roster right now
And nobody likes Arman
I would love to see Paddy vs Arman though
I think Paddy beats him
Posh Boys time at the top of the division is over

I was thoroughly entertained by Paddy kicking the shit out of Chandler but he shouldn’t be getting a TS. I get the UFC and fans are pissed at Arman but he deserves the TS and it’s the best way to get this division back on track.

Any chorizo sossitch that beats Paddy will have have a good feather in their cap.

HW Stipe did what coward POS Jon Jones Never Did...fought like a man, fighting HWs

DC, Francis, Reem, Arlovski, JDS, Mark Hunt, Werdum, etc. without one bloody Babymama.

They wouldn't want to risk Paddy losing to Poirier his retirement fight. They're hoping for title fight money out of him.

Max losing to Poirier wouldn't matter much at this point plus it'll be a banger.

It does a lot for his career actually. Every great fighter needs a foil, winning a lot is great but when someone comes along like Pimblett to Topuria it elevates some star. People said the same thing about Nurmagomedov to Mcgregor, Pereira to Adesanya, Mcgregor to Diaz. Each of those fights elevated careers because of the hype.

There’s a really a double standard on here isnt there, Fedor Emelianenko in his run beat a lot of old fighters who were borderline cans if not flat out cans and beat only 4 notable fighters in Noguiera, Cro Cop, Arlovski and Tim Sylvia. People don’t have trouble claiming him as HW GOAT, let alone GOAT in all the whole MMA, which is laughable to look at nowadays.

99% of the time who gives a fuxk what a fight will do for someone's career. If you're champ, just fight

Ilia shouldn't fight Paddy next not because of Ilia's career, but because Arman or someone else is more deserving of a title fight.

In the mean time Paddy might win another big fight and earn a title shot after.

The division should always be bigger than some fans favourite individual fighter

Indeed, fans deserve to see the best and most dangerous challenger fight for the belt in every title fight.

I always find it weird when some people seem to root for their favorite fighter like he's their little brother, wanting them to get easy match-ups, etc.

Let the best fight and then see who comes out on top.

TS is scared for Ilia, TS will also stop being a “fan” once Ilis picks up that L.
