Fighting Gane accomplishes nothing. If he wins, so what, he just beat up Jon's scraps. Plus he could very well lose and then Jon can go to another country for another year and not fight because Tom sucks.

Tom needs to beat someone else up that Jon hasn't, an easy win.

UFC 316 on June 7 is already headlined by Merab/Sean 2
UFC 317 on June 28 is already headlined by Ilia/Charles
UFC 318 on July 19 is already headlined by Max/Poirier 3
UFC 319 on August 16 is already headlined by DDP/Khamzat
UFC 320 on September 13 is the Noche Mexican card

There's nothing until October regardless of if it's Jon or Gane. And more likely they'll wait till the November's MSG card anyways for a HW title fight. Which is also what Jon hinted at when he said if they stripped him after Stipe he'd just fight whoever in November, indicating that again November is the date the UFC's been targeting.

People want to strip Jon because it makes them feel good, but you're still not magically getting a title fight next week if you do.

Its obvious that’s what the UFC is targeting for Jones vs Aspinall in MSG, everyone here is acting like a bunch of crackheads wanting the bout the be official already. Im pretty confident this bout occurs at the end of the year, if not then it’s will be Aspinall vs TBA for undisputed. The stripping of Jones is 75% haters of Dana,UFC, and Jones, they could care less about Aspinall as long their Circe jerk gets traction.

Tom's interview with DC and Chael was EXACTLY perfect. He announced Jones retirement for him. Said it respectfully so didn't go into playing some character or acting like a moron. Just low key bodied Jones and put him in a corner. "John's retired, wish him the best but time for us active HW's to get going."

He just needs to repeat that type thing every time it's brought up. He can subtlety dig at Jonny while doing it too. Someone else in another thread mentioned saying something like "This is a younger man's sport, nobody wants to see Jones get hurt at his age after all his accomplishments."

Keeping up that type talk gives Jones no recourse other than to dispute it (and then the pressure to fight Tom increases a zillion fold) or accept it and prove Tom right by retiring. Either way Tom looks golden. He either gets the fight with Jones that he wants, or he moves on while (respectfully) publicly dismissing Jones as old and irrelevant.

Jones doesn’t NEED to do anything. This is about the fact that Tom is playing it perfectly for HIMSELF. If he just keeps repeating this same type thing, in the next couple months he's either gonna A) get what he wants--a commitment from Jones to fight him or B) to move on and say the exact same thing if asked about Jones. "He retired. I wish him well. Nobody wanted him taking a beating in his last fight. He's a legend but we're moving on to build our own legacy."

Dana had said they'd been working on Jones vs Aspinall for international fight week since November to even as recently as April and promised several times that it "will" happen then, but has since moved the goal posts, and everyone defending Jones was happy to move with him.

Right now, UFC's ESPN deal is ending and they're in talks with other platforms, notably Netflix. And considering how the UFC likes to do special "first" cards on new platforms, and sister company WWE also did a first Netflix show, that's why I joked about how Jones-Aspinall is being delayed as a bargaining point to get a Netflix deal and happen on that card once the goal posts get moved again

My plan? What are you even talking about. Tom just announced Jones' retirement and is planning a different fight for as much as the organization will allow it. Jones can step in and accept or not. Pretty simple.

I realize you desperately don't want Jones to because if he gets KO'd you'll leave this site but let's see what Jonny decides. Tom is moving forward with or without Jones.
