I'm not American, but I did learn this week that everyone has a right to due process, and if he didn't get his, then that's wrong too.

They are supposed to have their asylum case reviewed. They came before they changed the asylum laws. These people are due their day in court to determine their asylum claim. These people have temporary legal protection according to United States immigration laws.

The current government is removing them using the Alien Enemies Act of 1798. This act allows the government to bypass immigration law. Are we at war? Is Venezula an enemy nation? This is the same act that the US used to place Japanese, German and Italian Americans in interment camps during WW2. The government had to apologize quite a bit for that action.

It's not that simple. The Venezuelan government isn't afraid to take these people back. It's a bargaining chip. The US government keeps messing with Venezuela in terms of trying to destabilizing the government or not recognizing the current regime because it's not our preferred candidate that won. It's a thing that has been going on for roughly 100 years. The US government also punishes them by not allowing big oil companies to export oil out of Venezuela. There is also a border dispute with Venezuela and their neighbors. The US is backing the neighbors and it causes further tension.

There are also political prisoners in Venezuela. They are only there because they were backed by the US government or they were the opposition to the winning regime. I think some of them are even American citizens. El Salvador's president has suggested trading the Venezuelans from CECOT with those political prisoners.
