This is fair. It can even be argued that the J6 insurrectionists were doing the correct thing (many asterisks given who some of them are, what they represented, etc) if they truly believed the democratic process was subverted. Of course, those were lies stoked by a conman who has never been held accountable for his behavior, but still.

That said, ICE is a questionable organization if we're being incredibly charitable and hasn't always been following the law and operates in an incredibly shady manner and I think a lot of anti-immigrant people don't understand the ramifications of allowing an organization like this to exist and operate in the manner it does, especially with comments like, "the homegrowns are next" and legal citizens being deported.

I don't make the moral argument with conservatives because they, *generally speaking*, don't care about morality and they really don't care about the rule of law considering the criminal regime that is in power and their repeated violations of the law, including court orders and the Constitution itself.

I forget who it was, but someone with Trump's cabinet during his first term even proposed something that would basically abolish ICE. It might've even not been his cabinet, it might've been someone involved with immigration, a woman IIRC. Fuck my terrible memory, it's on video though. They don't use those words but that was effectively what they were saying IIRC.

Excesses and unlawful activities by any agency or group working in official capacity as a representative of government should be held to the highest standards and if they fall short by all means nail them to the wall as an example to the rest. But if not ICE, then WHO performs their function? Who enforces the immigration laws? Local law enforcement? We see example after example of Democratic mayors and governors that do nothing, prosecutors that do nothing, judges that do nothing. Do you send in the FBI? ATF? Military? Who?

Immigration laws mean nothing if they are not enforced. They are not just if they are not enforced equally across the board. It is illegal if they are not enforced by those dually elected to uphold the laws of their communities, counties, states, nation. Who reaps the repercussions of unenforced laws? Who is held accountable? So far, we've seen one, exactly one, judge held accountable for their actions in regards to an illegal and helping them circumvent ICE. How many judges have been held accountable for civilian deaths, rapes and other crimes by non-citizens they allowed to wander where ever? How many prosecutiors? How many governors, mayors, town councils?

And yet legal citizens are also being deported, never mind the fact that being sent to a foreign gulag for life isn't exactly justice even if someone has broken laws. There's also the precedent that allowing ICE to exist and operate in this manner sets, not to mention "the homegrowns", etc. People have been deported AFTER the Trump regime was told not to do so.

INS. ICE has only existed since 2003. Bush Jr advanced a lot of sketchy shit in GWOT which wasn't reversed. Police and the FBI handle crimes. There's already agencies for this and immigrants commit less crimes than natural born citizens.

The immigration process just needs to be streamlined, having an unaccountable Gestapo isn't necessary
