It absolutely takes extra time to make sure you're properly prepared. He had to cut weight more quickly, didn't have as much time to peak, and had less time to spar and make sure his reflexes and timing were on point.I didt know it took extra weeks to make sure his brain didnt get shut off.
He's 36, he's not going to prep any differently, he knows how hes gonna fight. If it went late, maybe, but the reality is he got wrecked by a younger and better fighter.
Kinda stupid to pass up on the young bucks for Volk who is on a three fight losing streak...

2L´s, he beat Yair Rodriguez in between Makhachev fights. 1-3 recently, thats how record losing streaks start...Kinda stupid to pass up on the young bucks for Volk who is on a three fight losing streak...
When did Stipe come back quickly after getting badly rocked or KO'ed? He didn't come back quickly after any of his losses.Yup definitely a casual.
There are plenty of examples of guys that are good at taking shots but don't when they come back quick after a tko or ko
Machida
Frankie Edgar
Stipe
Wanderlei
Weidman
Just to name a few. All of them came back quick after getting rocked badly or ko/tkoed, just to get ko/tkoed by a shot that normally wouldn't
If Volk doesn’t deserve a rematch, than pretty much nobody deserves one.
It's the right move.
Volk took the fight very quickly after getting KOed in a weight class higher.
Volk has only lost that 1 fight at 145 and proved to be head and shoulders above everyone else.
It's funny to me that people on here don't want to count a fighters wins at higher weight classes but are quick to count the losses at higher weight classes against them

He got rocked hard vs Francis the first time and fought DC shortly after. When did Stipe come back quickly after getting badly rocked or KO'ed? He didn't come back quickly after any of his losses.
