I think they are sending a message to Mosvar saying we will take exciting losses over decisions despite your win streak.

Some of the recent cuts have been decision machines but guys who get KO'd are still getting fights.

If Volk vs Illia happens, I bet Lopes gets the winner

He's 36, he's not going to prep any differently, he knows how hes gonna fight. If it went late, maybe, but the reality is he got wrecked by a younger and better fighter.

It absolutely takes extra time to make sure you're properly prepared. He had to cut weight more quickly, didn't have as much time to peak, and had less time to spar and make sure his reflexes and timing were on point.
Could he still get knocked out with a year off and a perfect camp? Absolutely, but to say a full camp and time to recover from getting KO'd won't affect anything is disingenuous.

Volk took the fight very quickly after getting KOed in a weight class higher.

Volk has only lost that 1 fight at 145 and proved to be head and shoulders above everyone else.

It's funny to me that people on here don't want to count a fighters wins at higher weight classes but are quick to count the losses at higher weight classes against them

100% agree with this. Up until the last fight at FW, Volk was seen as the divisional goat, he was dominant for many years and deserves his rematch. It's not like he was getting beaten either, he won the first round.

He got rocked hard vs Francis the first time and fought DC shortly after.

Both Stipe and DC have talked about that leading to him getting TKOed relatively easily vs FC the 1st time from a short punch

I don't want to see it either. Volk is coming off a terrible run of knockouts and we have more interesting challengers. The circumstances aren't good, Volk is better off having another bounce-back fight and letting Ilia fight Evloev.

Volk doesn't need to be sniffing a title shot let alone getting one without at least a fight win streak. Volk just got brutally finished the last 2 flights and both very very easily. Volk couldn't even withstand one solid punch from ilia. If anything volk needs to move down to BW but even then needs 3 wins to sniff a title shot.
