1. Jones will be stripped leaving Aspinal as the only HW champ.
2. Dana will claim Jones was scared, wanted to fight anyone but Aspinal.

4. Jones will likely never fight again.


I think Jones will fight Aspinal. He may not make as much $ as he is asking for, but if they do it in Abu Dabi or Saudi they will get him enough $ to make the fight happen.

I think it will take place this year. Dana usually doesn't say 100% on fight of this size. Many times it is the opposite or not much commitment on it, like we are working things through we'll see, hopefully we can announce something soon. Those are the answers he usually gives. So that tells me they more or less are pretty close to the finish line of putting this fight together and all major hurdles have been taking care of, my guess is the date might be the last piece.

If Jon wins, we have a legendary champ who just proved he’s the deal deal and we can make some fun fights. It would be the best win of his career by far too.

If tom wins, we also have finally a legit champ and can get the division rolling again and he’s 31 so he can chase some records and finally end this stupid stalemate. Before the Saudis got involved in the fight game, I'd have agreed with you. However, these are tempting times for anyone with a semi-big name now, with how they are putting together these fights for millions. I'm sure Jon would be easily tempted to leave retirement to fight a youtuber for millions.

If he just retires now though, the UFC will definitely hold him to the contract he signed with them a year or so ago, to not allow him to accept any of those fights.

If he plays ball with the UFC they may let him take part, as Conor is apparently doing with that Logan Paul fight he's promoting now.

I’m not emotional, I’m just stating what you nuthuggers can’t say because Jon’s BBC is so far down your throat. Also, Jon vs Tom is the biggest fight that could possibly be made right now and it’s a win / win for the UFC and fans. Jon wins and we just saw the most legendary win ever. Tom wins and we have an exciting HW champ that is like 30 and is on an unreal run.

There’s never been a situation like this before and it’s honestly embarsssing for Jon. This is the most blatant and obvious ducking in MMA history. I can’t wait for this stupid saga to be over and I want it to be struck down aggressively so it may never happen again. I think ultimately Jon will cave to the pressure and sign the contract due to his ego. He’s insecure about his fear of Tom.

Champs have, up until now unified or been stripped. I don’t want this to turn into boxing where champs gain the right to duck contenders and they’re multiple belts. That’s a big reason why I don’t like boxing. I thought MMA was different.

Alex vs. Jon is a one-off and the result is predictable, it's a dumb fight the UFC want to legitimize the HW division not kill off Pereira one of their only stars. They're not interested.

Jon has a decent shot at beating Tom but his pitiful "I'm not going to fight him because I don't like him" excuse is killing his aura every day. Where was that energy for Cormier? lol

If he's trying to get paid really high by UFC standards that's one thing, but he can't go asking for 50 million and honestly expect the UFC to make him that deal it would be a clear duck.

But he cannot admit that to anyone so he simply comes up with a v high number which is effectively pricing himself out of the fight.

I think there's a CHANCE the UFC have got some fairly nasty and highly damaging dirt on Jones (lol I mean there will be a lot of it....) and I think UFC will threaten to go public with that if Jones doesn't take the fight. And they WILL pay Jones a lot but just not $30mill....

He did fight Stipe… even though he was ancient. But yeah he avoided HW DC & Ngannou. I think he will fight Aspinal fr. I don’t think he has a choice but to do it or retire at this point. Interim champ status works in Aspinal’s favor here.
