Homegym MEGA Thread

Dumb question of the day: What's the difference between a Leverage Squat machine and a Pendulum Squat machine?
It feels different. The leverage squat feels more like a front squat since the weight is in front of you. I don't like it because you can't go very deep on it. It's a lot of pressure on the knee and spine at the bottom when you lift heavy with it. It is the way the machine is designed. It just feels a bit off like squatting with a smith. I think the Pendulum is better. It is a better stimulus for me and Pendulum is somewhat safer to use. You can train till failure without sacrificing safety.

The Pendulum allows you to go very deep since the machine is designed differently than others. Most of these squat variation like the hack, smith or even regular squats; the hardest part is the bottom of these variations and the top is the resting/easier part. The pendulum has a counterweight(some variations allows adjustment to the counterweight. Cheaper versions don't have counterweight) that makes the bottom/pause part easier than normal and the top part becoming the hard part. It isn't a manly machine though. You can't really load up a lot of weight on it since you can't really explode on it. The movement is difficult but it's safer since you don't really feel a lot of pressure on the knees or back. I drop by this gym just to use it. The gym has a version where you can adjust the footplate so you can change the angle to look for a sweet spot if you do feel knee discomfort. I don't think this piece is home gym equipment though. It takes up a lot of space.

Youtube recommended this... I want to buy it but it's not worth 1500+ . It's a hole in a platform with some locking mechanism. The weight also doesn't seem directly underneath the user. It is a little in front of the person squatting.

vid popped up with someone trying to compare it with the Rogue Rhino. Price vs footprint . That Rhino is just a beautiful design. This thing looks ... kinda limited. Sold out in 48 hours so maybe the price wasn't out of the park. It's a $750 piece, which will be $2000 by spring due to Titanflation

I took a look at it. Rhino should be fine but it has that same issue of the weight in front. You have to lean back or hold on to something. It looks really smooth though.

how come you spend time trying to trim up and purposely eating less, moving more. When someone you haven't seen in 4-5 months says ' you look smaller' it's feels like an insult?

gotta go bump your review thread for opinions
I’m going to use it this week and put up a video. I got it for 200 so quite a deal. It’s not even scratched I don’t think the guy used it

Physics question - might just be over thinking it. Can a wall mounted (or folding) rack withstand the weight of lever arms coming back down? .

Revisiting this thought: It was getting closer to being next project and when I looked at the picture again, don't think it's gonna work as intended. The top of the uprights has a hitch pin for pullup bar and 2 bolts holding the cross member. There's no room for lever arms at the top of the uprights. They would hang at knee level.

for reference

I finally saved up enough for the REP Athena but my girlfriend has been wanting a treadmill for her birthday and it's coming up and those are practically the same price for a decent one. I've got enough plates and dumbbells to keep me moving, but I miss my cable workouts.

I'm relatively new to the home gym scene, but sometimes it appears to me that some machines demand a price that make absolutely no sense. It's as if Home Gym prices are all over the place.
