People wanted Ronda to fight Cyborg because Ronda was destroying her opponents in such epic fashion that Cyborg seemed like the only one that could challenge her. It's not uncommon for dominant champs who clear out their division to take a super fight while waiting for new contenders to emerge.

Holly on the other hand, just lost her title. Her number 1 priority is getting it back. She still has things to prove in her own division and taking a super fight would just be pointless at this point in her career.

Blah blah blah there's no good excuse for her turning down Cyborg. A win and she'd undoubtedly be next in line for a title shot.

It's a catchweight fight, in Cyborg's debut, and probably on the prelims. Why would any fighter going for the belt do that? Let Cyborg win a fight or two, then the hype machine will be in full swing. Wasting a top five on this fight right now would be stupid IMHO. Let Cyborg win her debut, gain some fans, get some eyes on her, then the big fights come to her.

On top of that she also has known issues with making weight in the first place. Let her prove at least 140 first before even making any big contender fights.

Dude I agree from a business standpoint that she shouldn't take that fight but there is upside for her. Beating cyborg in the UFC would be huge and would put her on top of the game. That said, I feel like holly can say she is above short notice fights at this point.

At the same time holly just said recently that she was open to that fight everyone here lampooned Ronda....looks like that was a bit premature. Keep in mind cyborg wasn't in the UFC completely until now.

The difference is that it made sense at that point in Ronda's career for her to take a superfight with Cyborg.

Ronda and Cyborg were both seemingly invincible, dominant champions who were destroying their opponents in record time. It made perfect sense for two dominant, seemingly invincible champions to meet in a superfight.

She doesn't look great for turning it down but considering the only viable contenders standing in her way for a shot at the title are semi retired Ronda and Amanda Nunes you can't really fault her.
I'm sure the proven fighters at 135 aren't jumping at the chance of facing cyborg in her home country and a ridiculous catch weight
